About the program

The program implies general academic training (including such disciplines and modules as the humanities and economics, mathematics, natural sciences) and professional training.
The program is aimed at training high-level specialists in drilling, reconstruction and recovery, workover of oil and gas wells, as well as research work.
At present, in the Russian Federation, much attention is paid to preparing and operation of new oil and gas deposits in East Siberia. One of the major factors accelerating the development of the East Siberian deposits is the necessity of oil pipeline “East Siberia – Pacific Ocean” which has a strategic meaning for Russia. In this context, there is a tendency of sharp annual increase of deep drilling volume aimed at geological research and development of the hydrocarbon resource base in the Irkutsk Region, demanding a great amount of engineers. The program “Oil and gas well drilling” is aimed at the training of such specialists.
Students have the opportunity to conduct experimental work in the laboratories of the Department, work on simulators that imitate the process of drilling wells onshore and offshore.

Learning outcomes

  • Software products used in carrying out technological calculations of production processes for the construction of wells onshore and offshore;
  • skills to identify and eliminate weak points in the production process;
  • main provisions of metrology, standardization, certification; principles of operation of drilling equipment, equipment for operation and workover of wells;
  • principles of negotiation and conflict resolution;
  • methods for constructing the simplest mathematical models of typical professional tasks;
