About the program

Students of this specialty are provided with the opportunity to participate in drilling operations of various types already during their studies. The university provides an opportunity to obtain the necessary qualification certificates, to develop and test new drilling technologies on an ongoing basis, to take part in commercial projects both near Irkutsk and in remote areas.

Learning outcomes

  • - ability to develop and implement of new drilling and mining equipment and technologies;
  • - ability to use computer simulation of the well drilling process;
  • - ability to develop, implement, supervise drilling projects.

Career opportunities

The main area of professional tasks of graduates of this specialty is the technical and technological support of geological exploration and mining, including:
1. Design and drilling of wells for various purposes:
- for prospecting and exploration of mineral deposits;
- during surveys for the construction of buildings and structures;
- when solving water supply issues for cities and towns.
2. Excavation of mining and exploration workings:
- development of technologies and excavation of mining workings in the geological and mining industries.
3. Auxiliary works of technical and technological support of geological exploration:
- Development of projects; development, repair and maintenance of mining and drilling equipment, construction of underground structures for military and civil purposes.
