About the program

Radio engineering is an interesting and intensively branch of science and technology, which combines various methods of wireless transmission of signals with the use of electromagnetic waves. Radio technical methods are used in data transmission systems, radio communication, radio broadcasting and television, radar and radio navigation systems, radio control, automation and computer systems, in transport, medicine, military facilities, aviation and space technologies. One of the most important applications of radio engineering methods is also the technology of non-destructive diagnostics of objects, research of materials and the environment. Radio engineering students study electronics, foundations of designing electrical circuits and signal modelling, devices for signal forming, generating, receipt and digital signal processing, electrodynamics and radio waves propagating, standards of modern wireless systems for high-speed data transmission, principles of radio navigation and radio location.

Learning outcomes

  • Practical skills in programming of radio electronic equipment;
  • Knowledge in using digital devices and microprocessors;
  • Knowledge in difital signal processing;
  • Ability to design, test, and adjust radio electronics;
  • Knowledge in modern satellite and ground-based wireless communication technologies;
  • Practical skills in programming of radio electronic equipment;
  • Practical skills in prototyping of radio electronics;
  • Knowledge in using digital devices and microprocessors;

Career opportunities

You will be able to work at communication enterprises (traditional, mobile, satellite communication companies), at enterprises operating radio-electronic equipment (aviation industry, air navigation services, television and radio broadcasting, security and fire alarms, etc.). Also, close cooperation with scientific organizations gives students the opportunity to undergo internships and employment in radio physical observatories and learn how to work with unique research equipment. INRTU has close collaboration with the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics SB RAS, PJSC Rostelecom, Irkutsk State University, Irkutsk Aircraft Plant, Russian Railways, En+ Group, radio engineering students take part in joint projects. Graduates can continue their studies in the magistracy and receive at INRTU a master's degree in the field of radio engineering and telecommunication systems.
