Open Day for International Applicants Held at INRTU Technopark

On May 12, a meeting with international students of the INRTU preparatory department was held in the assembly hall of the INRTU Technopark. During the Open Day, prospective students learned about admission rules for the 2026 academic year, entrance examinations, and document preparation.

The admission campaign at all Russian universities begins on June 20.

Head of the International Admission Office Daria Zandraeva gave a presentation about INRTU, covering the university's status, participation in international ranking systems, as well as its structure and history. The university has over 18,000 students, of which 1,300 are international students from more than 54 countries. INRTU offers Russian-taught and English-taught programs at the bachelor's, specialist, and master's levels. Fields of study include aircraft engineering, subsoil use, chemical technology, information systems and artificial intelligence, power engineering, economics, and others.

INRTU offers a wide range of specialties across nine schools: the School of Aircraft Construction, Mechanical Engineering and Transport; the School of Architecture, Construction and Design; the School of High Technologies; the School of Information Technology and Data Science; the School of Subsurface Resource Management; the Siberian School of Geosciences; the School of Economics, Management and Law; the School of Power Engineering; and the Baikal School of BRICS.

For admission to English-taught Bachelor's degree programs in engineering, applicants take exams in English language and mathematics. The exception is the Linguistics program. Entrance examinations for Master's degree programs entrance examinations include a subject-specific exam and a portfolio competition. Admission decisions take into account the GPA of the previous education document, the relevance of the higher education degree to the chosen Master's program field of study, and the presence of scientific publications (research experience).

For admission to Russian-taught Specialist and Bachelor's degree programs, applicants must pass an exam in Russian as a Foreign Language (the core subject) and a second subject, which depends on the chosen field of study (mathematics, chemistry, or biology).

Anastasiya Khrustaleva, a leading specialist at the Center for International Services, explained the procedures for visa extension and migration support. For admission, international applicants are required to submit the following documents: a valid international passport with a current visa, a migration card, migration registration, and a Voluntary Health Insurance (VMI) policy.

Ahmad Yakubu Garba, a third-year student at the School of Aircraft Construction, Mechanical Engineering and Transport, shared his impressions of studying at INRTU and living in Russia. For two years, Ahmad Yakubu Garba served as the President of the INRTU International Student Council. Moreover, the Nigerian student is the Grand Prix winner of the “The Best International Student” award.

“Studying at INRTU has given me a sense of home, thanks to its international atmosphere and the diverse community of students from all over the world, including my own country. This diversity also provides an opportunity to actively participate in university life.
INRTU offers an excellent engineering education that combines practical and theoretical training, ensuring deep knowledge.
My involvement in student self-government, particularly in the INRTU International Student Council, was especially valuable. This experience allowed me to learn about various events, build connections with other universities, and take part in international conferences, forums, and cultural exchanges. The International Student Council also helped to create a close-knit student community, which was one of the best moments of my life,”

said Ahmad Yakubu Garba.

Following the presentation, the students of the INRTU Preparatory Department took part in an engaging quiz about Russia and the university. This intellectual game allowed the international applicants to test their knowledge, demonstrate their erudition, and become better acquainted with the university in a relaxed setting. The winners received commemorative gifts with the INRTU logo.

The program continued with a tour of the INRTU Technopark laboratories. The international applicants had the opportunity to see the university’s state-of-the-art research infrastructure, explore its technological capabilities, and learn more about the prospects for studying, research, and professional development at one of Irkutsk Region's leading technical universities.
