INRTU Enters Six RAEX Subject Rankings
The RAEX agency has published its annual subject rankings of Russian universities for the fifth consecutive year. Experts assessed the quality of education across 35 disciplines, ranging from mathematics and engineering to pedagogy and hospitality management. The final rankings include 167 universities from 45 regions of Russia.
In 2025, INRTU was featured in six subject rankings, compared to five in 2024.
In the field of Power Engineering, Power Machinery and Electrical Engineering, the university ranks 16th (12th place in 2024).
INRTU placed 18th in Oil and Gas Engineering (16th in 2024), ranked 16th in Aviation and Rocket-Space Engineering (18th in 2024), and climbed to 12th place in Land Transportation Engineering and Technologies, improving from 18th place the previous year.
The university also ranked 20th in Chemical Technologies (17th in 2024) and entered the Civil Engineering ranking in 20th place after not being included in this subject area in 2024.
According to RAEX, regional universities remain strong competitors to institutions in Moscow and St. Petersburg, with several engineering rankings dominated by universities from other regions of Russia. For example, regional universities account for 85% of the institutions included in the “Aviation and Rocket-Space Engineering” ranking. Similar trends can be seen in “Shipbuilding and Water Transport” (82%) and “Oil and Gas Engineering” (75%).
