INRTU International Students Take Part in the “Blue, Green and Clean!” Summer School

Fr om August 21 to 24, INRTU international students took part in the “Blue, Green and Clean!” Summer School. The event was organized by the university’s International Services Center. At the Polytechnic sports and recreation camp, students took part in lectures, practical classes, eco-sports games and a drama contest.

The main goal of the school was to bring students from different countries together around important UN goals: protecting marine ecosystems, forests and land. The program also helped students improve their public speaking skills and meet people with similar interests.

The students took part in a simulation of a UN meeting, wh ere they acted as delegates and joined debates. They also watched a documentary about nature. At workshops on recycling, they learned about the principles of a green economy and tested their knowledge of biodiversity in a quiz. The program also included a large clean-up quest around the camp.

Students explored the local environmental during walks and interactive activities. They learned about how living organisms depend on each other, food chains and the flow of energy in ecosystems.

Tchuenkam Mbah Loic, a student at the Baikal School of BRICS from Cameroon, shared his impressions. He said that a summer school is not only about learning, but also about meeting new people:

“The program was very full. I especially enjoyed the lectures and the UN meeting simulations. We learned that there is a person behind every opinion and that it is important to respect everyone’s views, even when they are different from our own”.

Richard Munashe Muzondiva from Zimbabwe chose Information Systems and Technologies as his field of study at INRTU. He complemented the university’s preparatory program and entered the Siberian School of Geosciences this year.

For Richard, the Summer School was a chance to enjoy the beautiful area by the bay and help protect the environment:

“I enjoy working outdoors and spending time with people who share my interests. I will remember many moments from the Summer School, especially the evening when we had a dance party after cleaning the area together.
I still have four years of study ahead of me at the Siberian School of Geoscience. I plan to become a volunteer at INRTU and take part in environmental activities”.
