Russian Language Teachers from Four Countries Complete Training at INRTU
The ninth Summer School for teachers of Russian as a foreign language has ended at INRTU. Seventeen teachers fr om Mongolia, Uzbekistan, China and Tajikistan completed the training.
During two weeks, the participants learned modern teaching methods and new trends in the Russian language. The program also included tours of Irkutsk and a trip to Lake Baikal. The school ended with project presentations.
Anna Melenteva, Head of the International Affairs Department at INRTU, congratulated the participants and noted that every Summer School is unique because teachers from different countries bring their own experience:
“Thank you for promoting the Russian language among students in your home countries. We hope that the knowledge you gained here will help you in your professional work”.
Alla Antonova, Head of the Department of Russian Language Didactics at the Baikal School of BRICS, said that many participants gave positive feedback and plan to return to INRTU:
“Oybek Abdugafurovich Akbarov spoke highly of the program, saying that attending a Summer School in any Russian city is a great experience, while taking part in one in Irkutsk is something to be proud of. He also said that he plans to return with his colleagues next year.
We were also touched by a poem written by Larisa Orinina from Tajik National University. She came to the Summer School for the second time, and her poem showed us that our work was worth the effort. This is one of the best ways to thank everyone who worked on the program, including the International Affairs Department, the Department of Russian Didactics and the International Services Center. We will continue working to make our participants want to stay longer and come back again!”
Nemat Sabirov, a philologist from Fergana State University in Uzbekistan, received a professional development certificate. He teaches foreign literature and helps students learn Russian before entering Russian universities:
“The two weeks passed very quickly. We had excellent lectures and useful advice from INRTU teachers. The team worked very well together, and I learned many new ways to teach Russian as a foreign language”.
Tsetsegmaa Khongorzul works at the Russian House Language Center in Ulaanbaatar, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2026. INRTU is a partner of the organization in Mongolia.
“My mother taught me to love the Russian language. When I was a child, she created an environment wh ere I was surrounded by Russian language and culture. I came to Irkutsk to gain practical experience and improve my Russian. I achieved this goal,”
Tsetsegmaa said.
Wang Yanyan from Heilongjiang Institute of Foreign Languages in China visited Russia for the first time:
“For every Russian language teacher, it is very important to experience the language and culture directly. I am grateful to the INRTU teachers for sharing their valuable knowledge and experience”.
Larisa Orinina, Associate Professor at the Department of Russian Language for Non-Linguistic Faculties at Tajik National University, attended the Summer School for the second time:
“Mongolia, China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Russia — bringing teachers from these countries together creates a unique opportunity for intercultural exchange. This is especially important at a time of major changes in the world.
We are all specialists in teaching Russian as a foreign language, and we share the same goal. There is no competition, we work as one team. I am grateful to my colleagues for their openness, their interest in my teaching methods and their willingness to share new ideas”.
Summer schools for Russian language teachers have been held by the Department of Russian Language Didactics at the Baikal School of BRICS since 2022. The first participants were teachers from Mongolia, with support from the Mongolian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature and its Vice-President Sosorbaramyn Erdenemaam. Since then, more than 120 teachers from different countries have completed the program.
