The program is designed to train PhD as well as researchers and research teachers in the field of road transport operation. In the process of mastering the program graduates are expected to master the skills of scientific research in the development of high-tech methods of diagnostics, maintenance and repair of wheeled (including unmanned) vehicles along with the methodology of their application in the field of road transport operation.
Modern unique laboratory research equipment and instruments are used. When training, students use cars, electric vehicles and unmanned wheeled vehicles, as well as unique stands, testers, for diagnostics and control of the technical condition of both wheeled vehicles themselves and their systems, mechanisms, tire assemblies, shock absorbers, etc.
Research work is carried out on the basis of the INRTU research laboratory as well as on the basis of enterprises engaged in maintenance, repair and operation of wheeled vehicles. A graduate who has mastered the program receives the qualification "Researcher. Teacher-researcher".

Postgraduates of the program can perform professional activities in the following organizations and institutions: Academy of Sciences, research laboratories and auto polygons, research institutions engaged in the development and testing of wheeled vehicles; automobile, car repair and car assembly plants; service centers, motor transport and service companies; universities and colleges; private enterprises engaged in the development, testing, maintenance, diagnostics, maintenance and repair of wheeled vehicles.
