What’s the feeling that celebrate Chinese New Year far away from home?
My friends always ask me whether I’m homesick when I am abroad. Refusing to nod is my answer. But in the depths of my heart, especially some moments during the festival will be homesick.
Thanks to my grandma reminded me of the date of Chinese New Year. Actually it’s called Chinese Lunar New Year. It’s the most important festival in China. It is not only a chance for the whole family to get together and share a perfect meal. But also the time to sum up the gains and losses of last year and set goals for yourself in the coming new year. As for me, far away from home, the good way for us to celebrate is having dinner with classmates. We prepared different kinds of dishes and gathered to celebrate.
One of the most interesting things is propagating the Chinese New Year to Russians who like China. This is my harvest and satisfaction in special festivals. I used to celebrate with my family for fulfillment, but now instead, I'm in another country away from home, celebrating with my friends for fulfillment and meaning. The meaning of spreading the customs and culture of Chinese New Year to them is that it is incredibly great.
Right now, I admit that I miss my home sometimes. But instead, I take it as a motivation, which makes my unpredictable life meaningful. Everything is unknown and everything is a great journey to explore until you get an opportunity to try.
