Spring Cleanup in Preparation for May Day: The Youthful Responsibility of IRKUTSK NATIONAL RESEARCH TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

The spring breeze sweeps across the shores of Lake Baikal, awakening life in Irkutsk. On the campus woods of IRKUTSK NATIONAL RESEARCH TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY, teachers and students joined hands, bending down to sweep away fallen leaves and branches, welcoming the upcoming May Day holiday with their actions.

Shedding the heaviness of winter, the trees on campus are gradually sprouting new green leaves, but the ground still retains last year’s fallen leaves and debris. Teachers and students spontaneously organized themselves, with teachers taking the lead, picking up cleaning tools, and students following closely behind. Everyone put on gloves, picked up garbage bags, and busied themselves along the woodland paths. Teachers meticulously cleared away debris from corners, patiently guiding students in the cleaning direction. Students worked together, some carefully picking up scattered branches, others bending down to sweep up piles of fallen leaves, and still others combining their efforts to pack and carry the full garbage bags. Teachers and students worked in perfect harmony, their teamwork seamless. Sunlight filtered through the sparse branches, falling on the earnest faces of teachers and students, illuminating every corner of the gradually becoming cleaner campus.

This spring cleaning was not merely a simple campus cleanup, but a vivid demonstration of the spirit of labor by the teachers and students of IRKUTSK NATIONAL RESEARCH TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY. In Russia, May Day is also an important holiday to pay tribute to workers and promote the spirit of hard work. Teachers and students, through their simple actions, interpreted the profound meaning of “labor is the most glorious.” Teachers passed on the virtues of labor through their words and deeds, while students cleaned every inch of the campus with their sweat. Together, they welcomed spring with a clean environment, ensuring that the virtues of labor are passed down from generation to generation on campus.
