Seven Students of INRTU Became Winners of the En+/RUSAL Scholarship Program
INRTU seven undergraduates and graduate students of School of Power Engineering became winners of the competition within the En+/RUSAL scholarship program. They will receive 15-25 thousand rubles each month.
The target scholarship winners were selected among future metallurgists, power engineers, health workers and teachers. The organizers emphasized that primarily, the students' academic performance, active civil position, as well as scientific events experience throughout the previous two years were taken into account.
A total of 177 people, including INRTU students Nikolay Vishnyakov, Ivan Konovalov, Pavel Yudin, Irina Barkhatova, Daria Shagdyr, Danil Volygin and Valeria Yurovskaya, were awarded scholarships.
The amount of scholarships for master's students makes up 25 thousand until the end of the academic year, and for bachelor's students - 15 thousand rubles. In addition to financial incentives, the scholarship holders can subscribe to a specialized electronic library and participate in corporate projects.
Master's student Daria Shagdyr combines the studies with her work in the design and construction department of EuroSibEnergo Engineering Center LLC. Somehow, many of her achievements are related to the EN+ energy holding projects. For example, she won a grant of the Energy Laboratory accelerator program. Moreover, Daria is a co-author of an engineering project aimed at solving the lighting problems for highways, roads, streets and other non-centralized lighting objects. The development has been successfully patented.
According to Daria Shagdyr, the main and the most difficult stage of the competition was the online interview with the company's specialists. The experts assessed the candidates' degree of motivation and leadership qualities, their desire to work in En+.
Third-year student Danil Volygin is studying electric power engineering and electrical engineering at Baikal School of BRICS. The student is engaged in inventive activity and participates in the academic mobility program. Under the guidance of Associate Professor Nikolay Ivanov, he is developing an electrochemical generator for eco-transport in the Baikal water area. For this purpose, the INRTU students received a grant from the Innovation Promotion Foundation.
In addition, the scholarship recipient is a winner of a hackathon from the company “Hydrotechnologies of Siberia”, a participant of the Carbon SNO and the PROentrepreneurship project. Currently, Danil Volygin is taking an internship at the Beijing Institute of Technology. In China he will have to improve his competencies in the field of mathematics, energy and robotics.
Graduate student Irina Barkhatova's portfolio also includes awards for industry competitions. In 2021, she won the All-Russian Olympiad on relay protection and automation of electric power systems. Back then, Irina was the leader of the INRTU team and left behind participants from Ivanovo and Samara engineering universities. In May last year, the graduate student reached the final of the CASE-IN International Engineering Championship.
