IX International Scientific and Practical Conference “Problems of Mass Communication: The Innovative Aspect” Held at INRTU

INRTU hosted IX International Student Scientific and Practical Conference “Problems of Mass Communication: The Innovative Aspect”. The event brought together over 100 young researchers fr om Moscow, Tyumen, Kazan, and Tomsk, as well as from Minsk and Bishkek.

INRTU Department of Advertising and Journalism organized the event. The jury included the Head of the Department, Iuliia Vairakh, alongside Associate Professors Elena Drugova, Anna Kazorina, Oksana Bashkirtseva, and Olga Belskaya. The conference program featured a plenary session, several thematic breakout sessions, and a concluding summary of results.

In her address, Iuliia Vairakh, Head of the Department of Advertising and Journalism, emphasized the conference’s role as a vital platform for understanding modern media ecosystems:

“Participating in this conference offers you a chance to reflect on how the modern media system functions, to recognize the current challenges of the information society, and to identify ways to realize your potential as future journalists, advertising specialists, and television professionals. We will strive to address all of these issues today,” 

she said.

The conference also featured presentations by several invited experts: Kirill Romanov, an information officer for the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Irkutsk Region; Daniil Sedov, a correspondent and host of the “Weekday News” program on the NTS TV channel; and Anna Surkova, the General Director of the news outlet IRK.RU.

Kirill Romanov, an INRTU alumnus of the Department of Advertising and Journalism, delivered a talk on the role of press services in law enforcement and the prevention of IT-related crimes.

Daniil Sedov shared his experience transitioning from the media environment to a press service, discussing the challenges journalists face when adapting to corporate work and the choice of an optimal career path wh ere one can best realize their professional competencies.

Anna Surkova presented a report on the subject of information and cognitive warfare, highlighting the role of the media in this process.

Iuliia Vairakh also presented her own research, dedicated to the topic of “Conceptualization of Light and Color of Thought in Russian Linguistic Culture”, presented an analysis of the linguistic objectification of light and color meanings associated with the phenomenon of “thought”.
