INRTU Students Gain Knowledge and New Friendships in Harbin

INRTU students Valeria Vasilieva, Yaroslav Artemiev, and Arsenii Potapov from the School of Architecture, Construction and Design joined the Global Summer School Programme at the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) from July 15 to 24.

The students took part in the Intelligent Civil Engineering and Intelligent Construction program. They learned how artificial intelligence is used in modern construction. The host university provided free tuition, accommodation, and local transportation.

Students were selected through a competition based on their academic results and English skills.

During the program, the students completed a renovation project. They used point cloud data, Vibe Coding, and the TRAE AI system to create 3D interior designs and present them as websites. The project helped them develop practical skills.

The students also met people from different countries and learned about other education systems. The experience inspired Yaroslav Artemiev to continue his studies and work in research.

“All classes were taught in English. We attended lectures by professors from Croatia, Denmark, Japan, and Hong Kong. They were friendly and always ready to help. We learned about construction monitoring, carbon emissions, and seismic risk. We also visited several laboratories, including a wind tunnel and a laboratory with a 3000-ton press,” 

Yaroslav said.

The students said the program gave them new knowledge, practical skills, and friends from around the world.

“The best part of the trip was meeting students from different countries and the professors at HIT. I made many international friends, and I hope we will stay in touch for many years,” 

he added.

The trip inspired the students to keep learning. Yaroslav plans to study Chinese, and Valeria wants to improve her English and return to the summer school next year.

“This year I completed the Engineering English course at INRTU. The trip showed me that I need to improve my English. I also learned a lot about modern construction. The most memorable part was meeting people from different countries. Now we have friends in many parts of the world, especially in China and Kazakhstan,” 

Valeria said.

The student also explored Harbin. They visited the HIT Museum, the HIT Aerospace Museum, walked along the city’s main pedestrian street, and ended the trip with a visit to the Dragon Tower.
