Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia Supports Stronger Academic Exchange with INRTU

H. E. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Russian Federation, visited INRTU. During a meeting with the university’s leadership, he expressed interest in expanding academic exchange between Russian and Pakistani universities. He said stronger cooperation would benefit higher education and research in both countries.

INRTU Rector Mikhail Korniakov welcomed the ambassador. He said INRTU is one of Russia’s National Research Universities and one of the country’s leading engineering universities. The university trains highly qualified specialists and develops new technologies for industry.

“We develop new technologies and help bring them into industry. We also use this experience to educate skilled engineers. One example is our work on the MS-21 passenger aircraft. INRTU is part of Russia’s Priority 2030 program, which supports the country’s leading universities. We would like to launch joint study programs with Pakistani universities, carry out research together, and apply for international research grants,” 

Mikhail Korniakov said.

Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi thanked INRTU for the warm welcome and praised the university campus. He said he always visits universities during official trips because they help shape the future through education, research, and innovation.

“Today, about 1300 Pakistani students study at Russian universities. Every year, up to 35000 Pakistani students go abroad for higher education. We want to build stronger partnerships with Russian universities so that more young people from Pakistan choose Russia for their studies,” 

the Ambassador said.

The delegation also visited the INRTU Technopark. Ekaterina Samarkina, Director of the School of Power Engineering, introduced the En+ INRTU Corporate Research and Education Center. The guests toured its laboratories and learned how the center trains students for regional energy companies, provides professional training for engineers, and carries out research in the energy sector.

At the end of the visit, Ambassador Tirmizi said it is important for Russian and Pakistani universities to work together in engineering education, especially in energy. Both sides agreed to continue discussing joint projects and student and academic exchange programs.
