INRTU Students Attended ASRTU Summer School at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics
INRTU students Ivan Utnikov and Ivan Evdokimov fr om the INRTU School of Aircraft Construction, Mechanical Engineering and Transport joined the ASRTU Youth Aerospace & Culture Summer Program. The international summer school took place at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) in China from July 9 to 16.
The students passed a competitive selection process. They completed an interview in English and submitted a motivation letter. Applicants also needed high academic grades and English proficiency at B1 level or above. All lectures were delivered in English.
The host university covered part of the students’ expenses. It paid for tuition, accommodation and meal cards for campus dining halls. The participants also received official uniforms for university events.
The summer school opened on July 9. Before the classes began, the INRTU students met Russian-speaking volunteers from NUAA. The conversations helped them settle in quickly and learn more about Chinese culture.
The program included classes in Chinese calligraphy and lectures on aeronautics and aircraft engineering. Students also learned about modern aerospace technology. One of the main activities was a workshop wh ere they built a flying drone and then tested it at the university stadium.
The summer school focused on cultural exchange and Chinese teaching methods. Lectures and practical classes were easy to understand. Volunteers were always ready to help, so language was never a problem.
Ivan Utnikov said the program encouraged him to think about studying and working in China. He was impressed by the country’s advanced technology and rich cultural heritage.
“Our visit to NARI Group Corporation, one of China’s leading power technology companies, was one of the highlights of the trip. We learned about the company’s history and saw its latest technologies. The automated production lines were especially impressive. FANUC robots with machine vision worked together with high-precision machines and conveyor system.
The production process was highly automated. Even with very little human involvement, every stage of assembly was completed with remarkable precision”.
Utnikov also said the trip gave students a chance to explore Chinese culture. They visited the Confucius Temple and the Presidential Palace in Nanjing.
“Learning the basics of Chinese characters helped us better understand the country’s culture and traditions. Together with the practical skills we gained during the program, it gave us a better understanding of China. It is country with long history and a fast-growing high-tech economy”,
Utnikov said.
Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics is the current Chinese co-hair of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU).
