INRTU Expands Partnership with Harbin University of Science and Technology in Energy and Green Technologies

An INRTU delegation led by Rector Mikhail Korniakov visited Harbin University of Science and Technology (HUST) in China’s Heilongjiang Province. During the visit, the two universities discussed cooperation in power engineering, electrical engineering, and renewable energy.

The delegation also included Vice-Rector for International Affairs Stepan Bykov, Professor Konstantin Suslov, and Konstantin Khobta, Project Manager of the Department for International Scientific and Educational Projects.

The visit was organized to strengthen ties between the two universities. The INRTU representatives were welcomed by HUST Vice President Hu Jun.

HUST is one of the leading engineering universities in Heilongjiang Province. It offers 47 undergraduate, 51 master’s, and 16 PhD programs and has about 20,000 students. The university includes 17 schools and nine research centers and is well known for its strengths in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, and materials science.

The universities also discussed applying together for research grants in Russia and China. They agreed that joint research papers and other projects will help them receive this funding.

“One important next step is to organize visits by INRTU researchers and teachers to HUST for joint scientific seminars. This would help identify promising topics for future research,” 

said Mikhail Korniakov.

Professor Konstantin Suslov and Gao Han, Deputy Director of HUST’s Research Institute of Power Systems and Automation, also discussed possible joint research projects in green energy.

The partnership is based on an academic exchange agreement signed in January 2026.

In September, four INRTU students will travel to Harbin for internships, while two HUST students will study at INRTU as part of an academic mobility program.

The delegation also visited HUST’s New Energy Exhibition Hall, New Energy Laboratory, and Cutting Tool Museum, where they learned more about the university’s research facilities and technological developments.

According to Mikhail Korniakov, the visit created new opportunities for joint research and closer cooperation in energy and electrical engineering.
