INRTU – Participant in Russia's Biggest Quiz
INRTU students, led by Rector Mikhail Korniakov, took part in a city quiz. The intellectual game, held on August 17, was officially recognized as the biggest in Russia.
The quiz was organized by the Irkutsk city administration with support fr om the En+ company and Pharmasyntez, partners of the university. The event was a part of the "Happiness of Clean Water" festival and brought together 1209 people. Denis Guk, a famous Irkutsk showman, was the host. Representatives of the Russian Record Book watched the process.
About 170 teams registered for the quiz. Participants had to answer 25 questions about Irkutsk, Lake Baikal, and the Angara River.
INRTU was represented by teams "Irkutsk Polytechnic", "Go", "Irkutsk Polytechnic" "PPOSki" and "Hustle of Events." The participants were students, staff from the rector's office, the Youth Policy Department, the Trade union students club, and other university divisions.
Ekaterina Vlasova, a specialist in educational work at the Youth Policy Department, shared her impressions. According to her, the quiz included questions of different formats: from text questions to musical.
"The tasks were interesting. Sometimes you had to think hard, but overall, almost everyone could answer the questions. In some rounds, we had to find connections between the Angara region and the movie ‘Ice’ or the group ‘Ivanushki International’. Part of the rounds was devoted to the nature of the region. For example, we remembered how long a Baikal seal can stay underwater or how long an omul fish lives.
The quiz had a special atmosphere. Everyone was in a good mood, dancing and singing along, and at the end, we all lit up our phone flashlights together," shared Ekaterina Vlasova.
Tatiana Makarycheva, the Deputy Mayor of Irkutsk and Chair of the Committee on Economics and Strategic Planning, thanked the event organizers and partners. She noted that the city administration is working to develop event tourism in the capital of the Angara region:
"Such large-scale events bring our city to a new level. It’s important that the business community supported the festival."
The best score was made by the team that made only one mistake.
As a result of the quiz, Irkutsk broke the record of Vladivostok, wh ere 825 people played at Far Eastern Federal University in June.
