Foreign Students of INRTU Wrote a Russian Language Dictation on Orthodox Easter

A Russian language dictation for foreign students was organized at INRTU on April 18. The event, which was part of the Native Languages Festival program, attracted about 40 participants fr om 20 countries. The text of the dictation was dedicated to the huge Russian holiday - Orthodox Easter.

The initiator of the dictation is the Center for Indigenous Culture of the Baikal Region. The project was supported by the Coordination Center of INRTU, the Department of Humanities of the Baikal School of BRICS, the Department of Ethno-confessional Relations of the Governor's Office and the Government of the Irkutsk Region.

Valentina Oshchepkova, Head of the Coordination Center, expressed the gratitude to participants: 

“International students face various difficulties while studying in Russia. Overcoming the language barrier plays a big role in adaptation. The dictation will allow to get acquainted with the unique features of our country and boost your Russian language skills”.

The welcome speech was delivered by Anton Kalyuga, consultant of the Department of Ethno-confessional Relations of the Department of Public Relations and National Relations of the Governor and Government of the Irkutsk Region, and Veronika Timofeeva, leading methodologist of the Center for Indigenous Culture of the Baikal Region.

"Russian is a great language and one of the most difficult to learn. The Irkutsk Region is an interethnic region wh ere more than 130 ethnic groups live in peace and harmony. In addition, there are more than 380 religious organizations operating in the territory of our region.

I wish the project participants to demonstrate their linguistic competence and write the dictation with the highest score," - said Anton Kalyuga.

Anastasia Bytsko, a teacher at the college of the Irkutsk branch of the Russian State University of Justice became the dictation speaker. The text of the dictation told about the history and traditions of the Easter.

Hagag Moataz Ramadan Ahmed Youssef fr om Egypt, who is currently studying Russian at the preparatory course, took part in the project. The student is the winner of the International Academic Competition Engineers iPolytech, which allows him to study for free at BS BRICS Master's program.

"Today we learned a lot of interesting things about the most important Christian holiday. The dictation is a great opportunity to test your language skills. I clearly understood all the speaker's words, but I still need to work on my spelling.

I have been living in Irkutsk for almost 10 months. I like studying at INRTU, wh ere we have a lot of events for the adaptation of foreign students. Friendly teachers and students help me to overcome all the difficulties arising in a foreign country", - shared his impressions the student from Egypt.

Each participant of the project received a certificate. After the dictations are checked, several winners will be selected and awarded with memorable diplomas.
