Nguyen Hai Dang, the 1st place winner from Vietnam, shared his impression about “Future Leaders of Eurasia”.
- How did you learn about the Olympiad “Future Leaders of Eurasia?
I knew about the competition from my school teacher. Anyone in my class could volunteer to go, and fortunately I did. If I hadn't, I bet I would never be as happy as I am now.
- Were the tasks in Computer Science test difficult for you?
The questions were definitely not easy. Half of them were knowledge-based, and the other half required logical thinking and using my brain. One question even took me half an hour to figure out. They were really tricky, but fun to solve at the same time.
- Your English is very good, does your school specialize in English language?
It isn't my school but actually my class. I'm currently a member of class English 11A1 (every class specializes in one specific subject), and thus got many opportunities to learn more about English language, foreign people and culture, as well as large-scale competitions like "Future Leaders of Eurasia".
- What leadership qualities helped you to win, in your opinion?
I believe a leader in general doesn't only need public speaking skills but socializing abilities together with how to reinforce solidarity and discipline in the group as well. Therefore, I knew I had to take the initiative to strike conversations, try to befriend my opponents and be as polite as possible.
- What was your reaction when you won the 100% tuition fee voucher to study Artificial Intelligence Program at Irkutsk National Research Technical University’s?
My parents and I were really amazed, since I joined the competition just for fun. Getting the highest prize was just unbelievable. Our surprise was also partly due to the fact that I had never received any scholarship before.
- What is your plan in the future?
My aspired future career is working with technologies. I hope to learn more about programming languages and keep abreast of changes in this field around the world.
