INRTU Increased Its Position in the Global Green Metric-2023 Rating

Irkutsk National Research Technical University ranked 162nd out of 1183 world universities according to the GreenMetric-2023 global rating and moved up 42 positions compared to last year.

INRTU took 5th place in the ranking of the planet's greenest universities among Russian universities, the same as last year.

The university scored the highest number of points in the areas of "energy efficiency", "waste", "water". The total score was 8025 points.

In 2022, INRTU was ranked 204th in the overall GreenMetric ranking, which included 1,050 universities worldwide.

UI GreenMetric World University Rankings is the only global university ranking that measures the commitment of each participant to the development of "environmentally friendly" infrastructure. The main indicators measured in the UI GreenMetric rankings are: location and infrastructure, energy conservation and climate change, waste management, water resources, transport policy, education, and research.

To be ranked, universities need to submit not only quantitative data about their university but also confirm the information by providing links to regulatory documents, scans of orders, media news, photos, and other materials.

In 2017, INRTU entered the ranking for the first time. Since then, the university moved up from 558th place to 162nd and became the 5th university among 50 universities in Russia, which indicates the university's effective work in sustainable development and environmental management. INRTU, being on the list of environmentally sustainable universities in the world, motivates students and staff to take a responsible attitude toward the environment, energy, and water conservation, as well as the active implementation of "green" technologies on the campus. It is worth noting that a university's performance in international rankings is an essential indicator for foreign applicants when choosing a university. Industry experts and governmental organizations use this data to decide on cooperation with a particular university.
