INRTU Freshmen Take Part in the Parade of Russian Students

INRTU took part in the Parade of Russian Students on September 12 in the square near the monument to Alexander III. The event brought together more than 5,000 participants from 28 higher and secondary vocational education institutions. INRTU was represented by 1,000 first-year students, the Trade Union Students Club and student associations, including the Military-Patriotic Club “BM-21” and the “Wall Culture” art club. The ceremonial program opened with cadets from the Military Training Center carrying the flags of the Russian Federation and the Irkutsk Region. Members of the INRTU Student Sports Club cheerleading team then performed an energetic routine to the anthem of Irkutsk students.

The event was held with support from the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) as part of the national project “Youth and Children” and the “Region for the Young” program.

The celebration began with a series of interactive activity zones. Students could try their hand at tactical medicine, learn how to assemble a rifle or get creative at canvas-painting workshops.

The highlight of the day was the ceremonial march. The student procession followed the Angara River embankment from the monument to Vasily Margelov to the square near the monument to Alexander III. There, participants enjoyed a performance by the ZHARA cover band and joined in singing the student anthem.

Governor of the Irkutsk Region Igor Kobzev addressed the students, congratulating them on the occasion and stressing that the future of the region depends on them

“Student life is a wonderful and exciting time. Much depends on you today. Your courage, honor, dignity and determination will help you overcome every obstacle in your path. I wish you every success. Do not be afraid to aim high, create, work together for the common good and achieve results. Your rectors, vice-rectors and faculty will be there to help and support you”.

INRTU Rector Mikhail Korniakov wished the first-year students success in pursuing their dreams and professional growth:

“Today you are taking part in the Student Parade, a symbol of unity among all students in Irkutsk. Future engineers, teachers, doctors and specialists across many sectors and professions, you have a time of new discoveries, challenges and victories ahead of you. Do not be afraid to keep moving forward. Your mentors and teachers will be there beside you to guide you along the way. May today mark the bright beginning of a new chapter in your life and the first step toward making your dreams a reality”.

Elena Cherniy, Chair of the Student Coordinating Council of the Irkutsk Region, congratulated the new university students on their new status and reminded them that the region’s student community is a powerful force ready to help bring even the boldest ideas to life:

“Thank you for choosing educational institutions in the Irkutsk Region. An amazing, vibrant and fascinating journey awaits you. We will always be here for you. I hope you will remember these years for a long time”.

First-year student Liliana Shinkorenko, who enrolled in the Mechatronics and Robot Systems program, marched with the INRTU column. For her, the Student Parade marked the beginning of university life:

“I decided long ago that I wanted to become an engineer, and INRTU has everything I need to achieve that goal. My first week of classes was eye-opening: there are so many opportunities here to discover your strengths and keep developing.
Taking part in the parade, I feel that I am truly part of INRTU. It was wonderful to meet other first-year students and share this memorable moment of entering student life together”.
