BS BRICS Student Elizaveta Solovyova Took Part in MediaLab BRICS Program in Nizhny Novgorod
A student of the Baikal School of BRICS, Elizaveta Solovyova, took part in the international academic and educational program MediaLab BRICS, held in Nizhny Novgorod from 29 March to 2 April. Young media professionals from BRICS countries explored the latest trends in the media landscape, mastered science communication tools, and developed their own projects.
The MediaLab BRICS media school was organized by the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund in partnership with HSE University (Nizhny Novgorod) and the Nizhny Novgorod Planetarium Named after G.M. Grechko. The program aims to examine contemporary media trends, enhance professional skills, and promote accurate information about cooperation among BRICS countries.
In honor of the 65th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s historic spaceflight, the program’s theme focused on how space exploration is covered in the media sphere. Participants attended lectures delivered by leading experts in science journalism, took part in masterclasses, met with pilot-cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky, and enjoyed a themed show at the planetarium.
The media practitioners attended an intensive course run by RT Academy, while the HSE Art and Design School delivered a lecture on designing meaning within a physical space, including the creation of museum exhibitions and art installations. The participants also produced short videos in English.
Student Elizaveta Solovyova serves as an ambassador for the Youth and Student Tourism Program (Studturizm) at Irkutsk National Research Technical University (INRTU). By participating in the MediaLab BRICS program, she was able to gain practical skills in creating multimedia content while communicating in a foreign language and learning more about outer space:
“I am a future international business specialist, and it is vital for me to understand how to engage with different cultures and audiences. The program provided hands-on experience of working in a cross-cultural team, offered insight into global media trends, and taught me how to unpack a complex subject so that it can be understood in any country. This is directly relevant to international communications and branding.
The atmosphere at the event was incredible! Young people from different countries came together to create an international project, exchanged experiences, and within just a few days we became a genuine community,”
Elizaveta shared.
It is worth noting that Elizaveta Solovyova represented her university at the Studturizm 2025 international forum last year. Her involvement in MediaLab BRICS underscores her proactive approach and commitment to professional growth in the field of international media communications.
