The Siberian Character Exhibition at INRTU: Students' Landscapes and the Artwork by Experienced Artists

The Siberian Character art exhibition was opened at INRTU on November 13. In the university conference hall the employees of the Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting and Design named after V.G. Smagin presented their works. On the paintings one can see the majestic Hamar-Daban mountain range, Lake Ilchir's outflow - the Black Irkut, Lake Baikal and Listvyanka settlement. The landscapes were created by talented designers and muralists.

The event - part of the Siberia - Territory of Peace and Harmony Festival - was opened by Boris Ponomarev, Head of the Department of Additional Education and Social Work.

"It is a great chance for us to bring the whole team together, view the works of Vitaly Smagin's students, and admire our gifted colleagues. The teachers' artwork reveals the professional skills, the power to educate a new generation of artists and designers," said Boris Ponomarev.

Dmitry Dorokhin, Head of the Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting and Design named after V. G. Smagin, said that each artist has a different idea of the landscape. In the conference hall one can see the Siberian natural beauty-inspired paintings. The INRTU artists depicted the Barguzin side views of Baikal, Listvyanka village, Munku-Sardyk and Khamar-Daban mountain peaks, the Irkut River sources and other areas.

Dmitry Dorokhin believes that nature is a true source of inspiration to encourage creativity for viewers’ delight.

"Exhibitions make up the backbone of our profession and teaching. The mentors' artworks allow students to learn unique ways to express the beauty around us. Therefore, for the second year the Siberian Character collection features works made by the students in their free time," said Dmitry Dorokhin.

The Second Siberian Character exhibition opens for visitors on November 16 at 1:20 p.m. In the University White Hall students and teachers of the Department will present plein air works created over the summer sketching in the Polytechnic sports and recreation camp.
