More Than 180 Students Graduate from School of Subsurface Resource Management

A total of 181 students graduated from the INRTU School of Subsurface Resource Management (SSRM), including 48 with honors. The graduates, trained in mining, petroleum engineering, surveying, geodesy, and industrial safety, are expected to join leading companies across Russia.

Rector Mikhail Korniakov congratulated the graduates and their families, noting that the university had worked hard to prepare students for their future careers:

“Your connection with INRTU does not end here. You are now members of the Alumni Association, and we will always be happy to see you back at the university as master's or PhD students, or even as future employers and partners. I wish you success and all the best in your future”.

As part of a university tradition, Mikhail Korniakov also performed the song A Man in Love with Polytech for the graduates.

Industry representatives also addressed the graduates. Albert Basharov of Gazprom Dobycha Irkutsk invited young specialists to join the company, highlighting strong demand for professionals at the Kovykta gas field. On July 3, recruiters met with graduates at INRTU to discuss career opportunities.

Renat Akchurin of RN-Burenie and Olesya Kozlova of Gazprom Invest wished the graduates success as they begin their professional careers. Joining them was Nikita Zinovyev of Irkutsk Oil Company (INK), an INRTU graduate who is currently pursuing a PhD at the university.

Boris Olzoev, Deputy Director of the SSRM, encouraged graduates to stay in touch with their alma mater:

“You have graduated from one of the country's leading universities. I wish you success in careers, happiness in life, and all the best for you and your loved ones”.

Petroleum engineering graduate Vladislav Onufrienko topped the INRTU Top 100 Graduates ranking with more than 70 points. Alongside conducting research on the oil industry, he built an impressive record in chess, winning a prize at the 2024 Altargana International Festival and receiving a commendation from Governor Igor Kobzev. He also gained valuable field experience through two years of rotational work at Irkutsk Oil Company (INK) while studying at INRTU.

“Fieldwork gave me valuable engineering experience and practical skills with modern drilling technologies. For my graduation project, supervised by Associate Professor Vladimir Zalivin, I developed a universal oil well design. I hope to continue my career at INK while pursuing master's degrees in economics and petroleum engineering”,

Vladislav said.

Surveying graduate Ilya Bizimov also earned a place in the INRTU Top 100. During his studies, he was active in the Student Trade Union, took part in university sports events, and secured a Federal Agency for Youth Affairs grant to organize StreetFest 3.0, which brought together more than 150 students from the Irkutsk Region and Buryatia. After an internship at Alans, he joined the company as an engineer and plans to continue his studies at INRTU.

Petroleum Engineering graduate Zahra Alifah Kamilia thanked INRTU faculty for their support and guidance. Her thesis, supervised by Associate Professor Anton Zedgenizov, focused on improving the development efficiency of the Tanjung field. Zahra plans to gain field experience in her home country before pursuing a master's degree in Canada or Australia.
