INRTU Student Ivan Zarubin Wins Prestigious Hungarian Scholarship
Ivan Zarubin, an Economics student specializing in Finance and Credit at the School of Economics, Management and Law of INRTU, has been awarded the prestigious Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship. In the first semester of the 2026–2027 academic year, he will study at the University of Sopron in Hungary through an international exchange program.
Launched by the Hungarian Government in 2013, Stipendium Hungaricum helps talented international students study in Hungary while supporting international cooperation in higher education. The program is managed by the Tempus Public Foundation.
The scholarship offers more than 800 study options at 30 Hungarian universities in fields including economics, engineering, information technology, and the social sciences. Students can choose degree programs or spend a semester or a year abroad without earning a degree. Courses are available in English, German, and French. The scholarship covers tuition fees and provides a monthly stipend.
Depending on the study path, participants can spend from one semester to six years in Hungary. The program also includes Hungarian language courses and professional training opportunities.
Ivan, now in his third year, chose a one-semester exchange and plans to complete it during his final year at INRTU.
“Being selected for Stipendium Hungaricum is a great opportunity. I'm proud to have received this scholarship and look forward to representing my university abroad. I will join the English-language BSc in International Business Economics program. The scholarship covers my full tuition fee of about USD 1,850 per semester. It also provides a monthly stipend, housing support, and health insurance,”
Ivan said.
Applicants submitted documents to both the Russian and Hungarian sides. The selection process took place from February to June 2026. Applications were first reviewed by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Tempus Public Foundation. Candidates also submitted a motivation letter highlighting their achievements and study goals. The final stage was an online interview with the host university.
Selection was based on academic results, communication skills, and relevant experience. The main challenge was a 20-minute interview in English, during which applicants introduced themselves, presented their achievements, and answered questions from the admissions panel.
Scholarship recipients are expected to achieve high academic standards and show initiative throughout their studies.
