Summer Games Bring Together International Students at INRTU

Football and volleyball tournaments for international students were held at INRTU on June 29–30. The Summer Games tournament was organized by the International Student Council with support from the Center for International Services as part of the university's international student adaptation and wellness program.

The university stadium and sports hall hosted two days of competitive matches. Men's teams from Nigeria, Cameroon, Sudan, Egypt, and Indonesia took part in the football tournament and competed for the championship title.

Cameroon won the tournament, taking home the championship trophy and gold medals. Sudan finished second, while Indonesia claimed third place.

A women's volleyball tournament was also held on June 30 in the main sports hall. Teams from Nigeria and Cameroon came out on top, showing strong skills and excellent teamwork.

Sports events play an important role in helping international students adapt to university life. According to Julia Tsvirkun, a specialist at INRTU's Center for International Services, these competitions offer students much more than a chance to demonstrate their athletic abilities.

“Students were able to feel part of the university community, make new friends, and overcome language and cultural barriers.

Today, about 1500 international students from 54 countries study at INRTU, and events like these are an important tool for their social integration,”

Julia said.

The event concluded with an awards ceremony. Winners and prize-winners received trophies, medals, certificates, and official tournament T-shirts.

The organizers and participants thank all teams, referees, and supporters for their enthusiasm and contribution to the success of the event.
