Student Holiday at Taltsy: Winter Salki, Valenki Battle and Hot Pies

More than 250 INRTU students celebrated the Russian Student Day in the architectural and ethnographic open-air museum "Taltsy". The holiday was organized by the INRTU’s Youth Policy Department with the support of the Students' Union. The program of the event included active games and competitions.

At "Taltsy" the INRTU students were welcomed by Irina Byankina, acting Vice-Rector for Youth Policy, Anton Koshkin, Chairman of the Student Union, and Daria Sukhanova, representative of the Regional Ministry for Youth Policy.

The students were offered to play winter salki (Russian traditional catch-up game). The host of the event would throw snowballs at the players running around him who would then catch the relay. The winners were those who were never hit. No less fun was the second "battle" with pillows. The participants knocked each other down trying to stay on the logs.

At the festival, INRTU students overcame skiing and walking on stilts in three attempts. The students were most interested in the "fight" with valenki (traditional Russian winter footwear) hanging on poles. The main condition was to leave the opponent without valenki.

For the successfully passed stages the students received "diamonds", which gave them the right to try their luck in the sponsor's lottery. The owners of eight "stones" had a chance to participate.

Additional stages were organized by the Student union. The INRTU students earned coins at the stations "Running in bags", "Tic-tac-toe", "Big jump rope" and "Bowling". They exchanged the invented money for envelopes with three pirozhki (pies), tea and sbiten (Siberian non-alcoholic mulled wine) prepared by the catering complex staff.

The organizers also took into account the students' activity in social networks. They posted photos and videos of the contest stages on their VK pages, tagging the Youth of INRTU and Voice of INRTU groups. In return, they were given the opportunity to visit one of the farmsteads.

Konstantin Tomskikh, a four-year student of the School of High Technologies, shared his impressions of the event.

"The first time I visited the holiday in "Taltsy" was last year. Then I remembered the pillow fight and the valenki fight. I decided not to miss the opportunity and went back to the museum for the Student Day, because it is the most interesting event before graduation. I went through the main stages and won a smart speaker," said Konstantin Tomskikh.

The event ended with a lottery. The INRTU students received souvenirs with the university logo, as well as prizes from the project partners - the Easy School Educational Center, the School of Creative Industries (Molchanovka Library), the Brain Slaughter quiz, the Dandy Club mini-golf club, the Topkinsky tubing track, En+, Sber and VTB.

On January 25 at 15:00 in the House of Youth (102/1 Dekabrskih Sobytyi St.) the city holiday was launched. Students are invited to the open discussion with the Governor of the Irkutsk Region Igor Kobzev. Mass skating "All on Ice!", a concert and a quiz are scheduled to take place.
