INRTU Summer International School: Students from Mongolia successfully defended their final projects

The results of the Summer International School on the Russian language were summed up at INRTU. The participants, nine students of Mongolian State University, successfully presented their self-presentations and received certificates of completion of the program.

As previously reported, the International Summer School was opened by Rector of Irkutsk National Research Technical University Mikhail Korniakov on June 6. The initiator of the project is the INRTU International office.

Project defense and awarding of certificates took place in Baikal School of BRICS on June 22. The head of the  INRTU International office, Nina Berngard said that June 22nd is the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow. This date serves as a reminder of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. A minute of silence was held in memory of those who gave their lives.

"The school was organized during the celebration of Russian Language Day and Russia Day. The children mastered not only the educational program, but also got introduced to the culture and traditions of our country and visited Lake Baikal.

Great role in the international project played the interaction of Mongolian students with Russian-speaking and foreign students. During the open lesson, the INRTU students showed the students from Mongolia how to prepare self-presentations, inspired them to further study the Russian language," - says Nina Berngard.

Over the course of three weeks, students were developing their skills in phonetics, vocabulary, and grammar. The speakers of the course were assistants of the Department of Humanities - Natalia Petrova, Ekaterina Karpets and Larisa Proskurnina.

The training allowed the participants to prepare self-presentations in Russian. Mongolian students told about their hobbies and family, showed picturesque places of their home country. The special attention in presentations was given to traditions of Mongolia, national dishes and costumes.

From the stories of the students of the National University of Mongolia, participants of the event got an idea of the traditional costume - deel. It is a long free robe with sleeves and high collar, which is usually worn with a wide belt. Buuzy, khorkhog, batan, tsuivan and khushur are considered to be the key national dishes of Mongolia.

Minsel-Orlom Damiran, a student, was creative in her self-presentation. At the end of her speech she read a poem "And they will love you for something else," the author of which is the Russian poet Yana Mkr.

"I study at the National University of Mongolia major in Russian translation. The international summer school inspired me to master the university program better.

Representatives of the Irkutsk Technical University treated us with special attention. We got a lot of positive emotions on excursions and hikes", - shared her impressions Minsel-Orlom Damiran.

The student added that  she plans to move to the capital of the Irkutsk region and work on regional television in the future.

During the Summer School, the Mongolian students were accompanied and helped to adapt to the university by the staff of the International Office. Among them are Anna Minaeva, Elena Degtiareva and Aleksandra Tsao.

Summing up the results of the international project, Nina Berngard also reported on plans to expand the range of participants of the Summer School:

"We intend to involve schoolchildren and students not only from Mongolia. Currently, our university is actively cooperating with China, and there are many students from African countries who are studying Russian."
