INRTU students attended XII International Russian-Kazakh symposium «Coal chemistry and ecology of Kuzbass»
INRTU students Alexander Shabalin and Vladislav Galeev participated in XII International Russian-Kazakh symposium «Coal chemistry and ecology of Kuzbass». They presented a poster presentation about generation of hollow carbon mesoporous spheres during the process of hydrothermal carbonization of carbohydrates. The symposium took place in Kemerovo city from July 3 to July 6.
The event was organized by Federal research coal and coal chemistry center of Russian Academy of Sciences with the support of International association «Global energy». Many leading scientists, professors, postgraduates and representatives of scientific and production companies were interested in the symposium.
The scientific program included plenary lectures and oral presentations. The participants discussed the prospects for coal processing for various types of mining, modern technologies that reduce the environmental burden in coal mining, as well as methods for obtaining new carbon materials.
Students Alexander and Vladislav study nanotechnology and microsystem technology at the university. They work in the laboratory of the waste processing complex of the energy and metallurgical complex, created within the framework of the Baikal REC. Associate Professor of the Department of Radioelectronics and Telecommunication Systems of INRTU Nikolai Ivanov was the scientific supervisor of INRTU students.
According to Alexander Shabalin, a collection of reports indexed in the RSCI database was published for the symposium:
“The collection also includes our scientific work, in which we presented the results of laboratory research. The speakers of the symposium were authoritative scientists in the field of coal chemistry. Thanks to the discussions, we were able to evaluate the prospects of our research, learned about the use of carbon materials in medicine, electronics, catalysis, biology and ecology."
According to Vladislav Galeev, one of the key areas of the laboratory for complex waste processing of the energy and metallurgical complex is the development of waste disposal technologies in order to obtain new materials and modify existing ones.
“To obtain such carbon materials, we use silicon production waste, amorphous silicon dioxide spheres, cover them with a carbon shell and etch a template from it. This makes our methodology unique - we not only receive valuable raw materials, but also dispose of waste.
Materials containing carbon are widely used in various fields of science and technology. We intend to develop in the field of electronics. We plan to obtain carbon materials for the creation of battery electrodes and supercapacitors,” says Vladislav.
Polytech poster presentation interested the representatives of the Siberian Federal University and academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Participation in a large-scale symposium allowed students to determine the further course of research. They plan to get acquainted with the theory related to the use of carbon materials in electronics, perform mathematical calculations.
The final event of the forum was the GLOBAL ENERGY Award Ceremony.
A cultural program was organized for the participants of the symposium. Alexander Shabalin and Vladislav Galeev visited the memorial dedicated to the Liberator Soldier and Moscow Square in Kemerovo.
