INRTU master's degree student Vlada Pyatkova became a participant of "Development of the Fuel and Energy Complex 2023" hackathon of the International Petroleum Forum

Vlada Pyatkova, INRTU master's degree student, participated in the "Development of the Fuel and Energy Complex 2023" hackathon, which was organized as part of the International Petroleum Youth Forum. The event took place on July 11-17 in Almetyevsk (Republic of Tatarstan).

The forum is a unique learning environment for young professionals supported by PJSC Tatneft. This year, the event took place on the same platform as the Tatarstan Oil Summit. The republic leaders, heads of oil and petrochemical companies, scientists became participants of the forum.

The program included trainings, round tables, master classes by leading experts, communication with the leadership of petroleum companies and relevant ministries. The key event was the "Development of the Fuel and Energy Complex 2023" hackathon.

The theme of the hackathon was dedicated to the formation of an investment vector and the search for response measures with a focus on the long-term sustainability of the fuel and energy complex. 40 teams, consisting of students, young teachers and fuel and energy specialists, joined the solution of cases. They developed up-to-date business ideas on petroleum production, oil refining, petrochemicals, ESG agenda, industrial biotechnologies and decarbonization.

It should be pointed out that Vlada Pyatkova is mastering chemical technology in the master's program, in 2022 she entered the TOP-100 graduates of INRTU. During her studies, she took part in the “Baikal” and “Islands” forums and became the winner of the regional Student of the Year competition and the Geosciences-2022 conference.

Now, Vlada Pyatkova successfully combines her study at the university with work at LLC Taas-Yuryakh Neftegazodobycha (PJSC Rosneft).

To participate in the hackathon, the student went through a competitive selection, which included the presentation of a video business card and testing. In a team with Vlada, representatives of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, the St. Petersburg State Institute of Technology and young specialists of PJSC Tatneft developed the case solution.

“We worked in the direction of “Global technological leadership in oil refining and petroleum chemistry”. Our team offered to obtain biofuel fr om algae vegetable fats. Owing to the educational intensives of the forum, I gained a lot of new knowledge in the field of petroleum business and petroleum chemistry, experience of working in a team on real production tasks. The acquired skills will be useful in the master course and professional activities,” says Vlada Pyatkova.

Vlada Pyatkova also took an active interest in the events of the Oil Summit, including the industry exhibition, wh ere petroleum equipment and innovative developments were presented.

The master’s degree student added that she took part in the Youth Day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June. She got acquainted with the exhibition stands of major companies, joined the discussions. Most of all, Vlada remembered the lecture on the topic “Startup as a Diploma”, moderated by the representative of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Alexander Vedekhin.
