INRTU is Among the Top 15 Universities in the RAEX Rating for Oil and Gas Engineering
INRTU was ranked 12th in the prestigious RAEX rating of universities in the field of Oil and Gas Engineering. The rating includes the universities that have demonstrated the highest indexes by such criteria as the quality of admission of applicants, quality of education, variety of specialized educational programs, scientific activity, and demand for graduates in the labor market.
According to experts, higher education in the oil and gas industry is an excellent contribution to the future, as such specialists are in demand on the labor market. Specialists of this sphere can be engaged in both organizational and supervisory activities in the office and work on gas and oil rigs located far away from large population centers.
The top three places in the RAEX rating are given to National Gubkin University of Oil and Gas, St. Petersburg Mining University and Tomsk Polytechnic University. According to the rating, quality education in oil and gas is available not only in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but also in other regions. Thus, the share of non-metropolitan participants in the top 20 according to RAEX is 80 % of the total number of universities.
The universities included in this rating recruit at least 200 applicants in the specialties of Oil and Gas Engineering, Oil and Gas Technology and Physical Processes of Mining or Oil and Gas Production. The graduates are widely demanded by Russian oil and gas production and refining enterprises. Higher education institutions conduct research activities in this area, publish works in scientific and specialized journals, and have strong postgraduate and PhD programs.
Subject ratings of Russian universities were released in 2023 for the second time. In the new edition, the number of subject areas covered increased by 20 % and amounted to 35 specialties. The lists of the best institutions included 164 universities from 42 Russian regions.

It should be noted that in 2022 INRTU ranked 17th in the field of Oil and Gas Engineering. Today, the INRTU Department of Oil and Gas Engineering is the only department in Eastern Siberia that produces qualified bachelors in the field of deep drilling. Degree training includes such programs as Oil and Gas Wells Drilling, Operation and Maintenance of Oil Production Facilities, Logistics in Oil and Gas Complex, etc.
On the basis of the department there is a modern educational and research laboratory of drilling fluids and well support, organized training and simulator center of oil and gas engineering for advanced training of specialists of the industry.
