INRTU Day at the RUSSIA International Exhibition and Forum

On January 25, the Russian Student Day, INRTU presented the scientific potential and uniqueness of the university at the RUSSIA International Exhibition and Forum at the VDNKh (All-Russian Exhibition Center). The event was held at the stand of the Irkutsk Region in conjunction with the region's Higher Education Days.

Opening the INRTU Day, Rector Mikhail Kornyakov congratulated the INRTU students on the holiday. He noted that the university always celebrates Student Day in a very special way, paying tribute to Russian traditions - winter slides, skating rink, as well as making pelmeni (dumplings) and serving hot sbiten (Siberian non-alcoholic mulled wine).

"This year we are honored to represent the university at the largest platform in the country - the RUSSIA International Exhibition and Forum. Of course, it is a great responsibility, because we represent not only the university, but also the entire Irkutsk Region," emphasized Rector Mikhail Kornyakov.

A special place at the stand of the Irkutsk Region was occupied by a large-scale model of the interuniversity Eco.campus. The project of creating the campus in Irkutsk was presented to Ruslan Minnakhmetov, Deputy Director of the Budget Investment Department of Russian Ministry of Education and Science. Sergey Anosov, INRTU Vice-Rector for Campus and Corporate Management, reported on the stages of its implementation. He noted that the area for construction has been determined. By March 2024 INRTU will develop pre-design documentation for the objects of the interuniversity campus with the total area of 89 thousand square meters.

The INRTU's program included four master classes held by undergraduate and postgraduate students - active participants of the Student Scientific Societies (SSS).

Master classes on making polymer clay products and VR assembly of the MS-21 aircraft were of great interest to the exhibition visitors.

More than 300 guests were eager to create charms with the Baikal, seal, pine cone under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Jewelry Design and Technology Department Tatiana Anisimova. Her daughter Alevtina, a first-year student at INRTU, also assisted her in the master class. Each participant could take the made product as a gift. Over the interactive process the visitors got acquainted with information about the Irkutsk Region and the University.

Aviation enthusiasts lined up for a master class on the MC-21 aircraft assembly in the virtual laboratory. With the help of VR equipment one could explore the plane from all around, mount the assembly tools, drill holes and install rivets. Nikodim Podrez, an assistant at the INRTU Department of Aircraft Construction and Operation of Aviation Equipment, helped assemble the aircraft in the digital environment.

The guests were greeted by a big, cute seal, the lucky charm of INRTU, which children and adults loved to take their pictures with. Also, everyone could play ball hockey with the seal right at the stand, wearing the uniform of the INRTU university team. Especially the boys enjoyed this fun. After an improvised Russian hockey game, the participants received souvenirs - key rings with a picture of a seal with a hockey stick.

At the stand of the Irkutsk Region, visitors also got acquainted with laser scanning technologies and three-dimensional modeling. The master class was developed by Alidada SSS and the Center for Surveying and Geodesy Innovations, created under the Priority 2030 program. In addition, the guests were offered a VR tour of a mine developed by INRTU students Vadim Fedorov and Andrey Tyumentsev.

Lev Shemetov, a laboratory assistant at the Digital Design of Engineering Processes Research Laboratory, told the visitors about the features of the passenger liner using the MS-21 model as an example.

The work of the INRTU team at the RUSSIA Exhibition and Forum was highly appreciated by Elena Apanovich, Deputy Minister of Education of the Irkutsk Region. According to her, the INRTU Day became one of the brightest events at the Irkutsk Region stand.

"The program offered by INRTU attracted the most diverse groups of visitors", - pointed out Elena Apanovich.
