Developing Cooperation with Mongolia in Sport

The Frame Agreement was signed by INRTU and the Mongolian Student Sports Federation during the official visit of the Irkutsk Polytechnic University delegation to Mongolia.

The Agreement was signed by the Rector of INRTU Mikhail Kornyakov and the General Secretary of the Mongolian Student Sports Federation Jargalsaikhan Dorzhsuren.

The Parties agreed to promote mutual cooperation in sports development, which can be carried out in such formats as holding joint sports events, organizing visits of athletes, sports teams. It is also planned to exchange and learn experience in Physical Education and Sports, mutual participation in volunteer projects.

During the negotiations on the prospects of cooperation, Rector Mikhail Kornyakov said that INRTU is actively developing student sports.

«Irkutsk Polytechnic University has created 19 national teams in various kinds of sport. Ball hockey is a priority. Two years ago the University created the Irkutsk Polytech bandy team and become a founder of the All-Russian Student League in this area.

Recently the INRTU hockey players met for the first time with the Mongolian national team as part of the Friendship Cup and held a series of friendly matches. Holding the tournament is an important step for the development of international cooperation. Sport is an opportunity to make our young people friends, to introduce them to the country, its culture and traditions," 

The Rector invited the Mongolian Student Sports Federation to participate in the All-Russian Championship of student teams in bandy, which will be held in Irkutsk in the fall.

According to General Secretary Jargalsaikhan Dorzhsuren «such kinds of sport as basketball and volleyball are very popular in Mongolia».

INRTU took the initiative to hold friendly matches in these sports both in Irkutsk and in Mongolia. It is planned that student competitions in volleyball and basketball will take place at the beginning of this academic year. The initiative was supported by the Mongolian University of Science and Technology and the University of Finance and Economics. The Parties agreed that the host university provides the sports team with accommodation, food, opportunity to get acquainted with a university, city, culture and everyday life. Mongolian business is also going to support the participation of Mongolian students in sports competitions in Russia.

Rector of INRTU Mikhail Kornyakov also noted that Irkutsk Polytechnic University is a co-organizer of the All-Russian Student Boxing League. In December Irkutsk will host the final of the Russian Student Boxing Championship. Mikhail Kornyakov expressed interest in Mongolian boxing students taking part in this large-scale tournament.
