About the program
The Master's programme focuses on learning how to provide safety in the field of waste management, protecting people and the environment from their negative impacts. Particular attention is paid to the world experience in the field of waste prevention, involvement into economic turnover and recycling.Training under this program will help to provide students with the skills to analyze and understand the laws on the treatment of industrial waste and their hardware and technological design; teach students to assess the basic technical and economic characteristics of the equipment and make the choice of the best option; give an idea of the latest Russian and foreign advances in the treatment of industrial waste.
Learning outcomes
- Ability to engage in research, creative, design and innovation activities in interdisciplinary fields related to the development of circular economy, waste management;
- Knowledge of modern methods and tools in waste management at all levels such as Material flow analysis (MFA), Life cycle assessment (LCA)
- Skills in analyzing the effectiveness of the operation of treatment plants, sewage treatment plants and landfills, other industrial complexes in the field of environmental protection; the choice and justification of the optimal methods of neutralization and disposal of solid waste.
Career opportunities
Graduates work in: environmental services at industrial enterprises; environmental protection laboratories; commissions for environmental expertise of projects; research institutes; public and international organisations; enterprises related to the processing and use of production and consumption waste, as well as other units (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Irkutsk Region; Department of Rosprirodnadzor for the Irkutsk Region; Tunkinsky National Park; OAO Irkutskenergo, OOO Standard, OOO "Rezinopol", OOO "Hydrotechnologies of Siberia" etc.
