A student of INRTU Svetlana Barkalova and an employee of the Student's Trade Union Committee Danil Garbuzov became  winners of the «Other Business» project. The INRTU students performed tasks in the field of ecology, history, tourism and reported on their work through posts on social networks. The authors won a trip to Karelia and the Kola Peninsula within the «More than a Trip» program.

«More than a trip» - is a youth tourism development program created to encourage talented citizens and supported by the Ministry of Education and Science, The Federal Agency for Youth Affairs and Federal tourism Agency. The most popular way to join the project is to collect points through the online platform «Other Business». The best participants receive rewards represented by expedition tours across Russia. Trips have an educational, touristic and social orientation, including exploration different regions, volunteering, and development of new projects to improve the urban environment, meetings with scientists, and visits of technology parks and creative spaces.

In October, 2022, a future architect Svetlana Barkalova and a specialist of the Student Union Committee Danil Garbuzov will spend nine days on the Kola Peninsula and in Karelia. To get the trip, the INRTU students performed tasks, reporting the results in the online application and social networks. Most of points Svetlana and Danil got during the two-day hike on the Great Baikal Trail. Also, they told in posts in VK about their ecological habits, organization of «subbotniks», etc.

As the winners think, the experience, gained in the forthcoming trip, is necessary for realization of their creative projects. For example, Danil plans to add new information to his portfolio in order to become a videographer and tour organizer.

«It wasn’t very difficult to participate in «Other Business» project. It takes just a couple of hours to complete most of tasks , but there are also some tasks when you have to put a lot of effort, such as making a hike through the Great Baikal Trail. For several days I led in Russia. The award is worth fighting for,» emphasizes Danil.

For Svetlana Barkalova, who already tries her hand in the tour business, this is her second victory in the program. Last spring she won a trip to the Caucasus. Besides, the student is in charge of the all-Russian photo gallery «Baikal for Everyone». In 2020 she traveled along the Trans-Siberian Railway to the Far East as a member of the expedition «ARKHVAGON». Then Svetlana became a winner of the federal contest «Routes of Russia», having developed a week-long «package» designed to introduce guests of Siberia. Her plans for new tourist season include organizing ice routes on lake Baikal.
