On Higher School Teacher’s Day INRTU Staff Received Letters of Gratitude from the Governor of Irkutsk Region
INRTU staff members Aleksandr Pashkov, Boris Olzoev, and Xia Shuang received expressions of gratitude from the Governor of the Irkutsk Region, Igor Kobzev. The award ceremony, timed to coincide with the Higher School Teacher’s Day, took place on November 19 in the regional government building.
The ceremony was held as part of a formal meeting of the Coordinating Council for the Development of the Regional Higher Education System under the Governor of the Irkutsk Region.
Letters of gratitude were presented to 26 teachers by the First Deputy Governor of Irkutsk Region, Roman Kolesov, on behalf of the governor. He emphasized that research and teaching staff of universities perform a most important mission, training highly qualified personnel and developing science and education.
According to Roman Kolesov, over 8.5 thousand state-funded spots are offered annually to applicants in the Irkutsk Region. In total, about 75 thousand students are enrolled in higher education and secondary vocational education programs in the region's universities. Their training is provided by about four thousand teachers.

The rector of Irkutsk National Technical Research University, Mikhail Korniakov, noted the merits of his colleagues:

This once again underscores your high professional level, genuine dedication to science and education. Your achievements are a logical recognition of your contribution to the development of the university, the education of talented youth, and the strengthening of the scientific potential of the Irkutsk Region. You embody the best qualities of a teacher, researcher, and mentor, inspiring colleagues and students to new accomplishments”.
The Governor’s gratitude was presented to Boris Olzoev, Associate Professor of the Department of Mine Surveying and Geodesy, Deputy Director Deputy Director for Foreign Affairs of the School of Subsurface Resource Management. He received a cartographer’s diploma in 2006. Since graduating from university, he has worked in the higher education system at his alma mater.
In 2011, he defended his candidate’s dissertation dedicated to developing GIS systems and databases for a specially protected natural area in Buryatia. His scientific work is connected to research in the field of geography. Boris Nikolayevich teaches students GIS technologies, informational and legal fundamentals of topographical-geodetic works, and the theory of mathematical processing of geodetic measurements.
INRTU professional is active in various areas – from teaching and research to educational and organizational work. As part of the directorate of the School of Subsurface Resource Management, Boris Olzoev is responsible for student recruitment. It is important to note that the share of students from the Irkutsk Region he works with constitutes 70-80% of the total. Furthermore, he heads the sector for the certification of research and teaching staff at INRTU.
Boris Olzoev emphasizes that he chose his work out of vocation and passion. He finds it particularly pleasant to be in a professional environment that pays much attention to the development of subsurface use, ecology, and industrial safety.
“I grew up in a family of school teachers. To a large extent, thanks to my parents, I developed a particularly respectful attitude towards the education sector, its role in society, culture, and upbringing. As a teacher and mentor, I always advise my graduates to be devoted to their chosen profession,”
said Boris Olzoev.
Associate Professor of the Department of Technology and Equipment for Machine-Building Production Aleksandr Pashkov was awarded a letter of gratitude from the governor. He is a 2014 graduate of the School of Aircraft Construction, Mechanical Engineering and Transport of INRTU. In 2018, he completed his postgraduate studies at INRTU, defending a dissertation on “Improving the process of shaping sheet parts of double curvature on contact-type shot blasting installations”.
While still a junior student, Aleksandr began working at the university as a technician. Today, under his guidance, INRTU students study the automation of technological processes and production, engineering analysis in CAE systems, and numerical simulation methods. He considers of the School of Aircraft Construction, Mechanical Engineering and Transport of INRTU, Andrei Pashkov, his mentor:
“Andrei Evgenyevich laid the foundation in me for developing the technologies we promote in the research and student environment”.
Aleksandr Pashkov’s team participates in the development of the strategic project i.DIT within the “Priority-2030” program. He also serves as the scientific supervisor for postgraduate students Sergey Faleev and Anton Rybak. For instance, Sergey Faleev has completed his research and is preparing for a defense on the topic “Technology for shaping a wing panel”.
Xia Shuang, the Assistant to the Rector for Chinese Affairs, was awarded a letter of gratitude on behalf of the governor. For many years, she has contributed to the successful development of cooperation between Irkutsk National Research Technical University and partners from China.
