INRTU Hosted the Snow Lace Ballroom Dance Competition

At the end of December, the stage of the INRTU assembly hall gave host to the Snow Lace interuniversity ballroom dance competition. Not only INRTU dancers, but also students of the Irkutsk State University showed their skills.

Eight couples on the floor masterfully presented the pieces, conveyed the elegance of the Viennese waltz, gave themselves to emotion in the rhythmic tango, and showed zest in the quickstep, skillfully maneuvering on the dance floor.

As Maxim Skomorovsky, the head of the Akademik ballroom dance ensemble, notes, the competition is aimed not so much at attracting spectators as at the competitiveness of the participants, allowing the dancers to assess their abilities, test their skills and improve individual elements:

"When young people dance competitively, they put in the effort, and as a result, they get better at dancing. Competition is addictive, it raises the skill level."

At the end of the competition program, Maksim Skomorovskiy invited the couples to change partners and dance with the judges. He distributed the couples and himself became a participant of the "creative adventure".

The prizewinners of the Snow Lace interuniversity ballroom dance competition bacame the couples of INRTU's Akademik. Irina Goncharova and Andrey Murach took the first place, Daniil Dikalchuk and Olga Kuklina took the second place, and Artem Kadachikov and Galina Permyakova took the third place.

Irina Tankova, a student of Irkutsk State University, shared her impressions:

"It is good that INRTU always has a friendly environment, so it is always a pleasure for us to participate in joint events. At this competition we had an interesting experience when we changed partners. It was nice to feel that the guys from the Akademik ensemble are well prepared and feel confident on the parquet."
