The Ice House Music Band of China Performed on Stage at INRTU
On October 13, INRTU hosted a concert of the Chinese music band "Ice House". The guests from China pleased the University audience with strong vocals, playing the keyboard, drum, pipe and guitar. The event became part of the program of the I Chinese Culture and Art Festival on the shores of Baikal.
The event was timed to the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the Zhongqiujie mid-autumn celebration. The Festival program included exhibitions of calligraphy, painting and photography, a showcase of Chinese classical cinema, concerts. INRTU students showed great interest in the master classes on tea ceremony and origami, applying makeup on a Beijing opera-style mask. The eventful week ended with a concert by the Ice House band.
INRTU Rector Mikhail Kornyakov welcomed the music band and audience in the university assembly hall. By his words, cultural and creative exchange serves to strengthen the friendship between Russia and China:
"Recently the INRTU delegation has visited four provinces of China. Once we came back, we had another chance to get into the unique atmosphere of the enchanting Chinese culture. It's a great pleasure to welcome again the Ice House band, whose performance we have enjoyed before. I wish everyone to have a great evening".
The Ice House band, founded in 2007 by the singer Ba Bin in Lijiang, has been touring throughout China's provinces, Europe and Asia, and gives concerts in Australia. The Concerts in 100 Cities and 100 Universities project enjoys a great success. During their overseas tours the Chinese musicians have organized 2000 shows for three million listeners.
The performers of the popular folk songs album "Little Hut of Big Ice" appeared on INRTU stage. Xiliang Fanzi, as a folk rock and pop music lover, experiments a lot with ancient motifs. The concert guests were impressed by his strong, "clean" vocals and guitar playing.
Xiao Yu, a gifted artist, played the keyboard. She is a prize-winner of the Wang Yi contest in Hubei province and the author of demo recordings of many songs for the World Music company. The performer is especially popular for her work in such genres as pop and rhythm and blues.
The sounds of the pipe and drumming made a perfect match to the solo parts. Zhong Buhui gave a unique touch to the colorful melodies. In China, he is known as a folk music and ballads enthusiast.
