The “Bright Chord” Exhibition Opened at INRTU

The “Bright Chord” painting exhibition has opened in the White Hall of INRTU. The exhibition, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of INRTU, features works by faculty of the Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting and Design named after V.G. Smagin.

The importance of creative disciplines in a technical university was highlighted by Vice-Rector for Youth Policy Daria Lobanova. The “Bright Chord” exhibition confirms that art and science can harmoniously combine, shaping the cultural environment within the university.

“Such projects not only please the eye but also serve as a source of inspiration for new achievements. Great thanks to the teachers who, for many years, have enriched the university with their art and nurtured a new generation of artists,” Daria Lobanova said.

Among the authors of the presented paintings is Dmitry Dorokhin, Head of the Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting and Design named after V.G. Smagin. According to him, these works are a synthesis of traditions and innovative ideas inherited from the department's founder, Vitaly Georgievich Smagin.

“We, his followers, strive to convey the beauty of the surrounding world and share it with others. For three decades, our department has made its unique contribution by creating distinctive expositions of monumental works that enrich the university aesthetically and intellectually”.

Welcoming the guests, Associate Professor Natalia Dovnich emphasized:

“This year, Irkutsk National Research Technical University celebrates a significant milestone - 95 years. This exhibition is our gift to our alma mater, its faculty, and students. I thank everyone involved in organizing this event.

By visiting this exhibition, students, applicants, and guests will see from whom they are learning or will learn. This confirms the status of our department as one of the leading art schools in the region, bearing the name of the outstanding teacher and educator Vitaly Georgievich Smagin”.

Rector's Councillor of INRTU Elena Mozhaeva proposed making the exhibition more accessible to students by placing the artworks in the university corridors.

“Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting and Design does great work by beautifying our university. Stained glass, mosaics, and these paintings – every piece has soul and the highest mastery invested in it,” said Elena Mozhaeva.

As the exhibition organizers note, it creates a space for dialogue between technical and creative specialties and vividly demonstrates the high level of skill and creative potential of the faculty. The authors of the works are members of the Russian Union of Artists, laureates, and diploma recipients of international and all-Russian competition-exhibitions.

The festive atmosphere at the exhibition opening was enhanced by a performance from the “JAM” pop-jazz ensemble, which created a creative mood.
