Students and Teachers from Shenyang University of Chemical Technology Visited INRTU

On January 18, a delegation of students and teachers from Shenyang University of Chemical Technology (SUCT) visited INRTU. A cultural and entertaining program and a meeting with the INRTU management were prepared for the guests.

Russian and Chinese universities are connected by long-term partnership relations in the field of science and education. Since 2018, INRTU and SUCT have been jointly training engineering personnel based on the English-language bachelor's degree program "Energy and Power Engineering". Students study full-time in China, with a third of the disciplines taught by INRTU staff. Nearly 400 students are currently enrolled in the program.

The Chinese delegation was welcomed by Stepan Bykov, INRTU Vice-Rector for International Affairs, and Anna Melenteva, Head of the International Affairs Department.

"We always welcome guests from the Shenyang University of Chemical Technology. Our professors go to China regularly. This contributes to the acquisition of intercultural communication skills and strengthens cooperation. Soon we expect to open a direct flight Irkutsk-Shenyang, which will further strengthen the friendship between our cities and universities," says Stepan Bykov.

According to the Vice-Rector, an Olympiad for the INRTU and SUCT students has been launched to identify talented children. The leaders of the intellectual tournament will get an opportunity to continue their studies in the master's program of the Baikal School of BRICS free of charge.

"We will be glad to see each of you as our master students in the field of energy," Stepan Bykov addressed the students.

Anna Melenteva emphasized that INRTU has prepared a fascinating program:

"During four days in the Irkutsk Region you will get acquainted not only with INRTU, but also with the nature of Siberia, and visit Lake Baikal."

Professors of the Shenyang University of Chemical Technology gave a speech in return. They thanked the Irkutsk team for their hospitality and invited them to Shenyang.

Then there was a meeting of Chinese students and graduates of the joint INRTU- SUCT educational program who are currently studying in the INRTU Master's program.

The guests were impressed by the rich collection of Siberian gems and minerals at the A.V. Sidorov Mineralogical Museum. They also visited the INRTU History Museum, one of the university's dormitories, and took part in a master class on energy issues.

The visit of the representatives of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology will continue on January 19. There will be held a meeting with Chinese-Russian students to learn the basics of Russian phonetics, excursions to the Technopark and laboratories of the School of Power Engineering.

Xu Jiangxiang, a third-year student of SUCT, who came to Russia for the first time, shared his impressions of INRTU:

"What I remember most is the hospitality of the people of Irkutsk, the communication with other students from China."

Xu Jiangxiang plans to continue his studies in the INRTU Master's program, move to Russia, and build a successful career.
