Student from Cameroon to Lead INRTU International Student Council

A new leadership team has taken charge of the International Student Council (ISC) at Irkutsk National Research Technical University (INRTU). Tchuenkam Mbah Loic, a student from Cameroon, has been elected as the new President of the council.

For the past two years, Ahmad Garba Yakubu, a Nigerian student at the INRTU School of Aircraft Construction, successfully led the International Student Council (ISC). During his tenure, he transformed the council into an integral part of campus life. Under his leadership, the council spearheaded cultural and educational initiatives, launched orientation programs for international students, and fostered productive dialogue between students and the university administration. Reflecting on his term, Ahmad Garba Yakubu emphasized the importance of continuity and the need for fresh perspectives.

The new ISC team assumed its responsibilities on February 27. As president, Tchuenkam Mbah Loic, who is currently enrolled in the university’s preparatory course, will provide strategic leadership and represent ISC to the university administration and external partners.

Andrian Amsheev, INRTU Specialist in International Student Affairs, highlighted the council's significant impact on the quality of student life:

“The team actively supports INRTU international initiatives while successfully driving their own projects. Having worked with the new members personally, I am confident in their professionalism and immense potential. I believe they will build upon the existing foundation and elevate the council’s operations to new heights.
I would also like to express my gratitude to the outgoing team and Ahmad Garba Yakubu personally. During the past two years, you have established a solid foundation that has been invaluable to the entire international community at the university”.

The incoming council members expressed their commitment to maintaining established best practices, while also introducing innovative approaches to enhance international student engagement and advance the university's international goals.

Awal Salamatu Junior from Ghana has been appointed as the assistant to the president. A student at the Baikal School of BRICS, he will be responsible for coordinating internal operations, overseeing the implementation of council decisions, and ensuring streamlined communication.

INRTU continues to enhance its reputation as a university of opportunities, providing an environment that fosters leadership, cross-cultural exchange, and the smooth integration of students from around the world. The newly formed International Student Council aims to create a vibrant, dynamic, and united international community on campus.
