Robot “Comet” by Evgeny Boyarkin Took Third Place at the Siberian Mini-Robot Battle Cup
INRTU student Evgeny Boyarkin performed successfully at the open Siberian Mini-Robot Battle Cup organized by Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU) on August 28. The spectacular competitions were part of the program of the XII International Forum of Technological Development “Technoprom-2025”.
Eight teams fr om Novosibirsk and Irkutsk participated in the tournament. Robots with a weight of up to 1.5 kg and a size of 25x25x25 cm battled for the championship title. The task of each robot was to neutralize its opponent using any methods allowed by the tournament regulations. Judges assessed the robots based on their aggressiveness, control of the arena, and damage caused to the opponent.
Evgeny Boyarkin, an engineer and captain of the INRTU team "Krutim" (Spin), presented the mechanical combatant "Comet". Based on the results of the matches, this robot earned third place.
Evgeny Boyarkin is a student at the School of Aircraft Construction, Mechanical Engineering and Transport at INRTU, where he is studying technology processes and production automation. He is part of the "Krutim" team, which also includes his classmate Maria Potylitsina. Together, they create robots as part of a Project-based Learning course supervised by Maxim Popov.
The second version of “Comet”, which demonstrated good results in neutralizing opponents in Novosibirsk, was assembled by Evgeny Boyarkin during his summer internship at the university's Technopark. This version had some design changes that made the armor less vulnerable.
According to Evgeny, the first version of the robot had an elongated shape with a distinct tail, resembling a comet. The distinctive feature of the more technological version was a frame weapon weighing 300 grams, which the student cut on a manual milling machine. Thanks to this feature, “Comet” was able to complete three battles in the Novosibirsk fights.

“It was my first major competition. Each match lasted three minutes. The rounds went smoothly and were truly exciting.
Now, I am preparing for the RFC competitions in Moscow, which will take place on September 13. 'Comet' has qualified for the beginner category, and I intend to improve the robot even further and demonstrate even better results,” Evgeny shared.
