"My Multinational Friendship" Dormitory Competition at University

The annual international festival “Siberia — a Territory of Peace and Harmony” at INRTU culminated with “My Multinational Friendship” dormitory competition. Twelve student teams performed on the university’s main stage, showcasing the rich diversity of the INRTU’s multi-ethnic community, which lives in friendship and harmony. The event involved 468 students representing different nations. The contest was won by students from dormitory No. 12 VG.

The contest jury was chaired by Tatiana Dashko, Director of the Center for Cultural, Mass and Educational Work of INRTU. Other jury members included Vice-Rector for Youth Policy Daria Lobanova, Deputy Head of Campus Management for Educational Work Svetlana Bani-Melhem, Student Organizational Work Specialist of INRTU Trade Union Students’ Club Alina Sinyavina, and Director of the University's Coordination Center, Anna Rozhkova.

The jury evaluated the teams based on several criteria: creativity and relevance to the theme, originality of presentation, stage presence, artistry, and variety of genres.

The competitive performances featured vibrant, multi-genre performances blending comedy, dance, and vocal numbers. Each performance highlighted friendship and the richness and diversity of cultural traditions. The stage came alive with Buryat and African motifs, followed by Cossack songs, Chinese performances, and Korean dances. All the acts impressed with their creativity, immersing the audience in the unique features and customs of each culture.

According to Anna Rozhkova, it was difficult for the jury to choose a winner because all participants demonstrated a very high standard.

“All the teams performed strongly, and the dances were full of energy. Events like this bring us closer together. Our country is home to more than 190 peoples and nationalities, hundreds of languages and dialects, yet we remain united. Thank you all for the bright performances and genuine emotions,” she said.

The winning team from dormitory No. 12VG prepared a skit inspired by the film Indiana Jones. A traveler collects valuable artifacts from around the world, meeting characters representing Russian, Mongolian, Buryat, and African cultures. The team’s performance stood out for its ability to convey an atmosphere of adventure and intercultural dialogue.

Second place was taken by the team from dormitory No. 6, while third place was shared by dormitories No. 7 and No. 13AV.

The winning student team from dormitory No. 12VG shared their emotions:

“We rehearsed for a long time and tried to make our act interesting to show the wealth of different peoples’ cultures. We are very happy that the jury highly appreciated our performance. For us, this is a motivating experience that inspires new creative achievements”.

The leading teams were awarded diplomas, tasty pastries, and gifts from the sponsors – the INRTU Baikal Hospitality School, the Physical Educational and Health Study Center, and the Polytechnic Sports and Recreation Camp.
