Irkutsk Technical university bandy players won the "Two Lakes Cup" tournament
The second stage of the international bandy tournament "Two Lakes Cup" was held on April 4 on the ice of Lake Khubsugul in Mongolia. INRTU team was the winner, the second place was taken by the student team of Buryatia, the third by the youth team of Mongolia.
The second and the final stage of the tournament "Cup of two lakes" was held on the ice of Lake Khubsugul. On the fourth of April the weather was ideal for bandy - warm and sunny, which resulted in good ice for sliding and a lot of fans. People from the border village of Khankh, for whom the international tournament is a significant event, came to watch the game. Moreover, a lot of them had been actively helping to prepare the ice field for the game the day before. Armed with hoes and shovels, the locals cleaned the ice from the snow along with the bandy players.
First bandy players from Mongolia and the Republic of Buryatia took to the ice. The first game ended with the score 3:1 in favor of the Buryat team, which took revenge (in the first stage of the Baikal ice bandy team of Buryatia was inferior to the opposing teams).
In the second game the Buryatia team could not repeat its success, losing 2:0 to the INRTU team, which led in the third game, beating the Mongolian bandy team with a score of 2:6.
Player Konstantin Nasonov made a big contribution to the IRNITU victory, he scored eight goals.
"All the guys played smoothly, I especially want to thank our coach Maxim Vladimirovich, he worked well with us, gave the right spirit to win. I have a good and cheerful impression of the tournament. I wish we had more tournaments like that," said bandy player Nasonov.
Summing up the tournament, Rector of INRTU Mikhail Korniakov emphasized that everything worked out as it was planned.
"We held the Two Lakes Cup the way we planned - with the participation of three teams related to these lakes. The weather was beautiful and the ice was great, which the participating teams helped prepare. We will continue to promote ball bandy.
There is an idea to hold such tournaments annually, to make them larger scale, to attract local inhabitants to take part"
Cosmonaut-researcher Jugderdemidiin Gurragchaa, who headed the organizing committee of the "Two Lakes Cup", compared the tournament with a warm friendly meeting.
"The tournament took place practically on the border of the two states, with three regions participating. This is our first joint event of this kind, which, I think, will become a tradition. Winning at such competitions is great, but the most important result is strengthening relationships between people and friendship between peoples."
As a result of two stages of the tournament "Irkutsk Polytechnic" won, the second place was taken by the student team of Buryatia, the third one - by the youth team of Mongolia. The teams received well-deserved awards and commemorative cups.
