Irkutsk Polytech Team Advances to the Irkutsk Region Bandy Championship Final

The Irkutsk Polytech bandy team defeated Sibskana-2008 with a score of 5:2 to secure a place in the final of the Irkutsk Region Bandy Championship. The match took place on March 5 at the Baikal Ice Palace.

The Irkutsk Region Bandy Championship is nearing its conclusion. The group stage has already finished and the first playoff games have been played. Students from INRTU are competing in the strongest group along with Yanta, Veterans, Sibskana-2008, Sibskana-2009, and Sibskana-2010. In total, 15 teams have registered for Groups A and B.

Sibskana-2008 was considered a major opponent for the student team. During the semifinal game, goals were scored by Vitaly Bushkov, Semyon Kartashov, and Daniil Shumkov.

“Yesterday our team delivered a top-level performance. Everyone fought until the very end. We showed the kind of hockey we should aim for in every game. The teamwork, mutual understanding and support were clearly there. Everyone was anxious about the result, but we handled the task and carried out the coach’s instructions,” 

said team player Lev Kuzmenkov, a first-year student studying geophysics at Irkutsk National Research Technical University (INRTU).

The team also received strong support from the stands. The fan club cheered on Irkutsk Polytech throughout the match, chanting slogans without pause. Bright outfits, the thunder of drums and coordinated chants created a special atmosphere in the arena, inspiring the players to push for victory.

The final matches of the Irkutsk Region Bandy Championship, which will determine the medal winners, will take place on March 21.
