Irkutsk Polytech Joins Youth Day Celebrations

On June 28, Irkutsk youth celebrated their holiday at the Youth House venue. Irkutsk National Research Technical University (INRTU) actively joined the festivities by organizing interactive stations. Certificates for the Governor of Irkutsk Region Award in youth policy were presented to 13 INRTU representatives. The program also included an awards ceremony for top oil and gas studies lecturers, held by Irkutsk Oil Company (INK).

The celebration's theme united four key ideas: "Know. Love. Be Proud. Multiply." The Youth House hosted lectures, master classes, meetings with volunteers, promotions, interactive activities, career consultations, and performances by the city's creative groups.

The INRTU Youth Policy Department and the Student Trade Union Committee organized themed locations where prospective applicants could learn about the university's opportunities and immerse themselves in the student atmosphere. Participants received route sheets at the start, and prizes from INRTU and partners were awarded for completing all stations. Future applicants were also informed about admission rules and fields of study.

At the first location, participants tried their hand at science. Then, they demonstrated physical fitness – balancing on a balance board, competing in arm wrestling, and performing strength exercises. The Student Trade Union Committee prepared board games and an origami master class. The creative location, featuring lessons from the step dance studio "Chetchotka," the studio "Ethnobit," and the plastic improvisation studio "Art-Graphics," drew particular interest from participants.

Arina Anisimova, a student at the Siberian College of Transport and Construction who plans to enter the Institute of Architecture, Construction and Design next year, successfully completed all stations. Arina noted that she became acquainted with Irkutsk Polytech University three years ago when she started dancing with the ballroom dance ensemble "Akademik."

Semyon Bryzgalov, an eleventh-grader from School No. 21 named after Yu.A. Gagarin, intends to master the profession of urban planner at INRTU. In 2025, he became the winner of the city competition "Student of the Year."

"I am a patriot of my small homeland, so I plan to get my education at Irkutsk Polytech. I am sure it will allow me to fulfill my dream," Semyon Bryzgalov shared.

As part of Youth Day, the Irkutsk Oil Company (INK) Festival of Professions took place, during which the results of the "Best Teacher in Oil and Gas" competition were announced. The main prize of 100,000 rubles was awarded to Associate Professor of the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering Grigory Romanov. Second place went to Associate Professor Roman Lagerev, and Associate Professor Valentina Chetverikova took third place.

"I congratulate the teachers on their well-deserved victory. INK and INRTU are connected by long years of cooperation and joint projects. You are training truly talented specialists for us," said Ruslan Salikhov, Managing Director for Production – Chief Engineer of INK, at the awards ceremony.

INRTU Rector Mikhail Korniakov thanked the company for its support:

"It is gratifying to see business rewarding teachers who contribute to training personnel for the oil and gas industry. The competition helps strengthen the link between education and industry."

The competition theme was dedicated to advanced training of engineering personnel. Grigory Romanov presented an enhanced master's program on well workover.

"The well stock is growing, but the demand for drillers is not as high as for workover specialists. I believe it is necessary to pay special attention to improving the skills of workover crews. This is important for preserving the environment and the rational use of natural resources. My idea is to enhance the training program for workover specialists using modern tools," Grigory Romanov explained about his project.

At Youth Day, certificates for the Governor of Irkutsk Region Award in the field of youth policy were presented. The award amount is traditionally 50,000 rubles.

The laureates were welcomed by Igor Kobzev, Governor of Irkutsk Region.

"Youth policy for the regional authorities is a strategic course aimed at ensuring young people stay in the Irkutsk Region, develop the region with their ideas and projects, and create a comfortable living environment for the future. I am glad to share the youth holiday with them. I assured the young people that our team will continue to implement the regional comprehensive youth program, which helps bring youth initiatives to life, supporting their activity and development," the Head of the region's quote reads in the official press release.

Thirteen people from INRTU received the award. The award for achievements in socially significant activities was given to Chairman of the Student Union Trade Committee Anton Koshkin and Tatiana Baranova.

Successes in creative activities were demonstrated by Ailana Syrenova and Valeria Vostretsova (School of Modern Choreography "Shagi"), Danil Razvozzhaev (ensemble "Kalina"), Alina Gulieva (studio of ethnic percussion "Ethnobit"), Anastasia Sukhareva (ensemble "Poy, Friend!"), as well as representatives of the ensemble "Akademik" Daniil Kuzovkin, Andrei Murach, Arina Anisimova, and Anton Chervony.

The best results in science among Polytech students were achieved by Maria Ivanova and Arthur Avetisyan.

"In my application, I listed victories at national and international competitions, including 'Young Inventor,' 'Avant-Garde of Science,' and 'Chemistry of the Future.' Being awarded the Governor's prize motivates me for further achievements in the field of chemistry," Maria shared her impressions.

The celebration at the Youth House concluded with an open dialogue between the Head of the Angara Region and active youth about their participation in the life of the region.
