International Competition in Algorithmic Programming Was Held At the All-Russian Youth Campus in Baikalsk
International competition in algorithmic programming “Baikal. Code” was organized for the first time on the site of the All-Russian Youth Campus in Baikalsk.
The event on the shore of Baikal attracted about 100 sports programmers from Russia and China.
The competition was organized by the Sports Programming Federation with the support of VEB.RF State Corporation and TC Center. Students of universities of the Angara Region and the team of the Harbin Institute of Information Technology took part in the tournament.
The event was opened by the Rector of INRTU Mikhail Korniakov, representatives of the Chinese delegation, vice-rector for scientific work of IrGUPS Alexei Dimov, chairman of the Irkutsk branch of the Federation of Sports Programming and Baikal Center of Sports Programming Roman Ishchenko.
According to Roman Ishchenko, “Baikal. Code” is a highlight in the field of algorithmic programming:
“The event is aimed at popularizing this interesting area and strengthening international student relations.
Thanks to the support of VEB.RF and TC Center, we managed to hold the tournament at a high level. A rich program for participants was developed on the territory of the All-Russian Youth Campus.
Sports programming is rapidly developing. A lot of talented young people join the movement every year. They are the future of information technologies”.
The competition was held in the format of individual scoring. Kliment Mitrofanov, Danil Shilov and Viktor Kadach, students of Irkutsk State University, became the winners. They received financial awards in the amount of 100, 75 and 50 thousand rubles.
INRTU was represented at the tournament by 18 people who are making their first steps in this field under the guidance of coaches of the Baikal Center for Sports Programming.
Denis Grigoriev, a first-year student of the School of Information Technology and Data Science, shared his impressions of the competition:
“I've only been into sports programming for six months, so I didn't manage to get to the top of the international tournament.
I got only positive emotions from the event though. I liked everything – the beautiful venue, the rich program, delicious meals and socializing with like-minded people. Besides, thanks to the tournament, I got practical skills, which are very important in solving algorithmic problems”.
Some INRTU students joined the competition remotely. One of them was Ivan Borozdin, a first-year student and future information security specialist:
“The remote participation did not prevent us from successfully completing the tasks. The most difficult tasks were creating structures, searching for interconnection and logic in the program environment”.
