INRTU Team Performed at the International Student Chess Tournament in Ulan-Ude

The competition was held as part of the Shatar Student Chess League at the site of the East Siberian State University of Technology and Management (ESSUTM).

The tournament is organised by ESSUTM, the Chess Federation of the Republic of Buryatia, the Youth Chamber at the People's Khural with the support of the regional Ministry of Sport and the Ministry of Youth Policy.

Thirty-eight chess players from nine teams representing Buryatia, Irkutsk Region and Mongolia took part in the tournament.

Thirty-eight chess players from nine teams representing Buryatia, Irkutsk Region and Mongolia took part in the tournament. INRTU was represented by students Alina Kiseleva, Boris Khusheev and Vladislav Gurov.

The team from Mongolia won the competition. The second place was taken by BSU students. Representatives of the Buryat State Agricultural Academy named after V.R. Filippov closed the top three. INRTU students are on the fourth line of the standings. Alina Kiseleva excelled in the individual championship.


Boris Khusheev shared his impressions on the competition:

‘The tournament was held at a high level - it was interesting for me to get experience of playing with students from Mongolia and the Republic of Buryatia.

I got interested in chess in primary school, but later I spent more time studying. I decided to resume chess lessons last year. At the university this interesting sport opened up in a new way for me. Now I am a member of the INRTU team, coached by Anna Germanovna Orshonova’.
