INRTU Team Is the Bronze Medalist of the Regional Hockey Championship
The INRTU team became the bronze medalist of the regional ball hockey championship. Veterans of "Baikal-Energy" took the gold medal. Players of “Sibskana-2007” won the silver medal. The final matches and the awarding ceremony took place in the ice palace “Baikal” on March 16.
It should be noted that the championship started on December 13 in the format of a round-robin tournament. The competition attracted 16 amateur teams, which played two sets of medals in groups “A” (the strongest) and “B”.
In the battle for the “bronze” in group “A” the INRTU team met with hockey players of “Sibskana-2008”. The opponent opened the score of the match. Daniil Shumkov scored the return goal at the 24th minute of the first half, then the luck went to the side of INRTU. The game ended with a victory 6:2 in favor of the students.
The match for the first place was also exciting, where the veterans of “Baikal-Energy” – the winners of the last championship beat the youth team “Sibskana-2007” with the score 6:3.
There was a solemn awarding ceremony right after the final, the best players were announced. Daniil Shumkov, who plays for the university team for the fourth season, was awarded this title.
“At the start the opponent demonstrated a lot of good moments, but right after the first goal we managed to take the game into our own hands. Coordinated teamwork and instructions of the coaching staff helped a lot.
An important role in preparation for the match played a meeting with the veterans of “Baikal-Energy”. In the first half we scored four goals, claiming to reach the final. However, experience won out, and we got serious motivation to reach the winners”, shared his impressions Daniil Shumkov.
The team was supported from the stands by the Rector of INRTU, the president of the Student Sports League of Ball Hockey Mikhail Korniakov, as well as the staff and students of the university.
“Congratulations to our guys and coaches on the “bronze” of the regional championship. I followed the tournament matches from the stands and joined the online broadcasts. It is safe to say that the hockey players demonstrated a real will to win and dedication on the field,” says Mikhail Korniakov.
The final games of group “B” were held at the “Record” stadium. The winner was recognized as the team “Energia” from Svirsk. The second place was taken by the “Shelekhov” club. "Solnechny” team was also among the three winners.
It is worth mentioning that this hockey season the INRTU students won a bronze medal at the All-Russian competitions in Kemerovo and won the international tournament “Cup of Two Lakes”. The students have a fight for the Angara Region Governor's Cup ahead of them.
