INRTU students organize the first regional tournament in phygital basketball

On April 2 Activists of the Student Sport Club "SportCom IRNITU" organized the first regional tournament in digital basketball. Employees of the Irkutsk Oil Company, university students, representatives of the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications of the Angara region (MDDC) showed interest in the project. The Ministry of Youth Policy also became a participant of the competition.

Artem Kuzmin, the chairman of "Sportcom IRNITU" and the head of the regional branch of the Association of Student Sports Clubs of Russia, noted that the digital sport is a new format of competitions. The participants of the tournament compete on a virtual and live field:

"The combination of physical activity and digital technologies makes it possible to popularize active recreation. Our tournament opens a series of events on digital sports in the Irkutsk region. We intend to assemble a team to participate in the large-scale "Games of the Future", which will be held in Kazan in 2024."

The 2nd year student of the Institute of High Technologies Daria Oskolkova has been professionally engaged in ballet for many years. Now she enthusiastically plays volleyball and basketball, implements creative projects.

"I was a designer in the team of organizers of the tournament in digital basketball. I was instructed to arrange the cups that were awarded to the winners. This is a good experience and a start for new design projects," Daria said.

The rating of participating teams is as follows: team of Irkutsk Oil Company (1st place), students of INRTU (2nd) and MDDC of Angara region. The tournament leaders received retro T-shirts and books with a story about the success of the USSR national basketball team at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.
